And they've always spent obscene amounts

What other premier league clubs were spending £30m on a central defender over 20 years ago? That's what they did when they bought Ferdinand.

£30m was eye watering amounts for almost any player back then, never mind a centre back. They were dropping similar fees on the likes of Veron too.

The reality is nobody used to be able to compete with them financially. People malign the likes of us and Chelsea and say we bought success. To an extent its true, but we are honest, we're under no illusions that money has given us a huge boost but all we really did was level the playing field for us and the other top clubs like Chelsea and United.

What we really found out was once multiple teams could start spending similar to united, they weren't actually that good.

The big difference is we spend very well for the most part and the rags pissed money up the wall on shit player after shit player for a decade.
Show ponies too....

Ties between Raine Group and Manchester City ownership could affect Qatari bid

Manchester United's takeover saga may have a touch of outside influence

written by David O'Neill05/29/2023

The Manchester United takeover saga will enter its eighth month in June, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim Al Thani still locking horns in their bids to take control of the club from the Glazer family.
On Sunday, it was relayed by Sky News that INEOS founder Sir Jim remains in pole position to gain ownership of Man United, with his latest bid valuing the club at somewhere between £5bn and £5.5bn.

But earlier this month, it was reported that Sheikh Jassim had launched an 11th hour bid valuing the club at around £5.67bn, prompting the question: why do the Glazers’ advisors the, Raine Group, still hold a preference for the INEOS bid?
One answer is the possibility of the Glazer siblings retaining some of their shares on a ‘put and call’ basis, allowing them to cash in part of their investment in three years time should Sir Jim choose. That would allow them to benefit from further growth in the club later down the line.

The thought of the Glazers staying on in any capacity would be a bitter pill to swallow for United fans, who have suffered under the Tampa Bay family’s tenure for eighteen long years. But there is a slightly more sinister possibility.

The Raine Group, founded by Joseph Ravitch in 2009, received substantial investment by way of the purchase of a 9% stake, from the Mubadala Development Company within a year of opening its doors.

Mubadala is an investment company of the Abu Dhabi state, wholly owned by the government. Upon its board of directors sits Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, founder of the City Football Group, which owns 81% of Manchester City. His co-founder, Khaldoon Al Mubarak, is both the chairman of Man City and the Managing Director of Mubadala.

That was reported last month and wouldn’t it be great if it was the reason Qatar don’t buy them but very much doubt that that 9% would have any sway whatsoever to who buys the scum is fanciful..

I thought we were state owned, wish people would make their minds up.

The best part of 1.5 billion on player recruitment.......much of it went on varying degrees of mediocre to shite.....but that is not the point.

And yet they attack us for spending and cheating......entitled fucking hypocrites indeed.

We cannot lose to these fuckers on Saturday,we just cannot allow that to happen.

They believe they should sit permanently a top of English football. If you look at their successful periods, there was the 20 odd year reign of Fergie where there was no competition for a good decade for him. Then there was Busby and they went 25 years of not winning the league between the two managers.

They’ve only had 3 managers that have actually won the league for them, City’s last three managers have all won the league. Funniest stat is that Jose Mourinho is United’s third most successful manager. That’s piss funny.
