I honestly can't see anything other tham United continuing to struggle. It seems like the new coach is only buying players from Dutch football. That is a recipe for disaster in my view. The Ajax team reached the CL semi which was an achievement but the league in Holland is sub-standard and it is very rare for any player from there to make that jump to the PL (without developing in another league first). It is always a bad sign when a coach can only sign players from his old club. I think it will all end in tears. Happy days.
He may be a top coach- but when the foundations are rotten, no quality operator would risk bringing the whole house down by gambling at the back.

Van Gaal, Mourinho, and to be honest everyone since recognised this. Which is why they have become ultra defensive and boring for so long.

To change that will need a radical overhaul. Which is a big gamble in itself, especially if there are time demands upon you (which I think Arsenal have shown they accept, in order to give Arteta time to build).

I think he could be on a hiding to nothing, which is why he is just going with what he knows.

...will be interesting...

Anyone else think this feels more like announcing your hopes for the success of the premier league’s first double hip replacement?

That’s how high the silly **** will need to be able to jump when Phillips goes crunching in, in the derby.
Remember Dinho on rat-face in the League Cup semifinal at the swamp?

We saw nothing of the diving wanker for the rest of the game.
