I think youre right that he wants this legacy. I mean, no ones paying him £10k a week are they, at worse he’ll be in the £200k per week region.
But then … if its goals, would they count the same if he bagged 30 a year in a qatar standard league? They would obviously ‘count’ but would they kinda sully the total
That was my point really. Some people would moan about Portuguese league goals, let alone Qatari league ones.

His goal tallies aren’t likely to be beaten in a while unless our Norwegian goes berserk for 15 years, but he probably wants to get to 1,000 if he can.

Wonder if there is a small possibility that he retires after the World Cup? Especially if the win it.

It'll be interesting to see who offers him a contract, anyway.

They’re up for sale because the yanks can’t see big profit in them without the ESL.

That pretty much rules out all US owners, bar some dick like Musk with delusions of ego and grandeur.

Where does that leave both clubs? With yank owners wanting to sell, but can’t? You can’t see much investment happening whilst that happens.

So, then both clubs are looking eastwards, to potential “Sportswashing” owners. That may make them competitive again, but they lose their “moral high ground”.

Hopefully the Sheikhs hold their bids for a while. Get the yanks to lower their asking prices as their infrastructure decays further.
No, you want the bids to be highest possible (glazers take their profit, the debt is paid off/continued) and then there is less money for the buyer to invest afterwards.

The more that they are overpaid for, the better (for us). Cf Musk and the insane 45b for Twitter.

It is a myth.
Taggart is frequently referred to as the best manager of all time, bollocks !!
All they ever did during his reign was buy everyone's best players, like Van Persie, Rooney, Cole etc etc etc...the list is huge. (even tried to buy Shearer).

How can anyone forget the 2011 CL final. When Pep's Barca absolutely outplayed Taggarts team. Played them off the Wembley park.
Pep Gave the old piss can a humiliating footballing lesson that night. Best ever manager my arse.
A nasty, vulgar bully who used his and Gill's influence to manipulate the rules of the game. A man who was apparently able to pick and choose which referee he would permit to enforce HIS rules, and HIS rules only. Any dissension in the ranks and you're out. Woe betide anybody whose opinion differed to his - this is a man who idolised Josef Stalin, don't forget.
A club that could -and did, frequently- outspend every other club in football history: if someone offered a million for a decent player, that foul obscenity of a club would counter-offer with 4 million. And that's how it was until Jack Walker splashed the cash at Blackburn, and Wenger turned up at Arsenal with a new footballing philosophy that put the dictator's nose well and truly out of joint.

When nobody can compete with your wealth, when every referee and linesman in the league are happy to sell their morals and their pride just so that the Govan tyrant might allow them back to ref another game, when every media outlet, every journalist and footballing pundit is happy to look away when your players commit GBH to opposing players without any legal retribution, winning trophies is a piece of piss.

Someone mentioned on the radio that sporting have a young squad and are in a rebuild phase with a young manager. Ruben Amorim, he is the same age as Ronaldo, why would he want him around? Might be a decision over his head but its lazy journalism to suggest Ron could just rock up at Sporting if he needs a club.
He’d want it as he‘d be returning home.

The club may want it if they can make money from his return. It’d certainly put them more in the global spotlight than they’d usually be.

They‘re almost guaranteed CL football each year anyway.

Id imagine, in his brain, that he thinks there will be a queue of clubs round the block wanting to sign him

Not sure there will be

From out point of view, yeah, but the Sheikhs aren’t daft. If they can save £1B, they would.
