It's almost as if they're unable to move on from that era and continuously judge their club on it, rather than approach things from a new perspective.

And they wonder why they're 'struggling'.

Yep they'd be better talking about the the 26 years when they were just average side winning 3/4 trophies in those 26 years before Bacon! Or just say apart from 2 managers been shite average side!

Exactly. It was the sycophants in the Sly studio that made them out to be better than they actually were. I remember the Don Revie side of the 70's and the similarities between the two sides are quite compelling. Neither played out from the back or played tactically-aware football. Both relied very heavily on brutality to win games, the rags in particular were very Wimbledon-esque in their approach.
Leeds were a dirty, cynical side who were grand masters of the dark arts - Brian Clough was 100% correct in his assessment.
The same with the rags: witness the amount of times the ginger pig went in two-footed, or when the Irish pikey scythed in and took an opposition player out of the game.

The drunken despot was not a good football manager: he was in the right place at the right time and he was handed an absolute treasure chest in order to create a team that no other club could compete with.
But a compliant media, and a selection of referees with both stars in their eyes and a fear of upsetting the bullying clique who manipulated the Premier league at that time, helped create and sustain the myth that the rags were a good team.

Success is not always the result of talent: ask Amanda Holden, The Spice Girls, One Direction etc.
And, more than anyone, Andrew Ridgeley.

Why are their hangers on in the media pushing the most in form team of the last five games? It’s proper weird and just prolongs their agony, this is where their problems lay from what they have done in the last ten years. The media seem desperate to sprinkle glitter on the turd as they cling to any slight ray of sunshine that shows they are progressing back to the promised land.

They’ve made hard work of getting past teams any half decent Premier League outfit should be beating. They’ve lost to teams in the Champions league who don’t have the budget that United have. It’s death by a thousand cuts for them, they win and all of a sudden everything is right with the world.
Only two teams have won their last three PL games: Brentford and the current Champions.

And no mention of the humiliation they suffered in the one that they lost.
