For those who like a bet, no matter what a shambles they are, get your money on this rabble to finish top four next season.
My reasoning is this; they are loaded with debt which they tell us is okay as it's "sustainable". True enough provided your income doesn't drop significantly. It's like buying a large house with a mortgage you can reasonably expect to pay as long as your wages are at a certain level. Trouble arises if you get a pay cut or lose your job.
The game changer in "sustainability" is the Champions League money and commensurate sponsorship.
United were in the CL and receipt of the resulting income from 1993 through to 2014 (apart from one year 95/96).
Since 2014, they have missed out on CL income in 2014/15, 2016/17, 2019/20, 2022/23 and, now 2024/25. Notice anything about that ? Yup, never out of the CL for more than one season which is handy given that it is rumoured, and seems commercially logical, that their sponsorship deals contain clauses that there are significant reductions should they miss out on the CL for 2 consecutive seasons.
Be prepared for even more outrageous decisions in their favour next season.
