United Thread - 2023/24

It's funny how all the narrative in the press of united having to limit their spending to comply with FFP has gone very quiet now that they look like they'll be spending at least £160m in this window... on top of the quarter of a billion they spent in the last window.

There was a good article in the Athletic (Adam Crafton) Where he explained in some detail that their maximum budget was 122m before sales.

So far on sales they have only recouped 6m for Telles.

Elanga, Henderson, Bailly & Fred could go for about 60+m.
Van De Beek, McTominay and Maguire could squeeze out another 70m

By my guestimation it's about 260m to play with. So this spending limit thing is mostly a red herring.

And don't be surprised at the end of August, when they chuck in a higher bid for Kane after Bayern have agreed the fee. They did the same when Bale had agreed to join Madrid. Woodwoodwardward offered 10m more, but Bale didn't want to go to them.

Thought the cheats only had 100m to spend? Spent 110m now they said 60m is as high as they’ll go for that Atlanta player which they want 86m! They talk about ten bob build like they talked about ole build! Easy isn’t it keep sacking managers it’s a reset in rebuilding Ten Bob needs 2/3 more windows to get the team he wants!
And they will still be bobbins!

18 months ago a Rag I know was trying to compare him to Grealish.
I reminded him of this today and also mentioned that 23 year old Phil Foden has more EPL winners medals than their entire squad put together.
Threw in that City get more in fees for players who haven't been near the first team than they got for their most recent "New George Best"
