I could trawl google all day to find clips. but I not wasting my time, but I could say 2022 scousers v chelase league cup semi, matip ruled out as one that comes to mind or the idiocy of our game at the swamp where intefering with play was dismissed by atwell

however it is easy to post the rules

Standing in, an offside position is in the way of an opponent and interferes with the movement of the opponent towards the ball this is an offside offence if it impacts on the ability of the opponent to play or challenge for the ball

Casemeros postion (offside) when rashford plays the ball in is offside as normal and under the rules contunies to be so when fernandes recieves the ball a his original position interferes with the goalies positioning for who he covers (as he has to judge to go to cover a cross or a shot bottom right) as fernandes crosses casemero is onside, bit depending where you decide the passage of play starts then he can be given either on or off.

I still say 80% of the time the official would say the play starts with rashfords ball in and so under the rules he is offside, if the game and VAR officials decide it is from fernades cross so he is on, and whether some disagree or not that is the fact.

Like the ref who made the call on his opinion, saying he was on or off is open to where you think the move started so neither is right or wrong because the rules are batshit in how they can be openly interpreted

There were bigger more obvious officiating errors than this in the game that should be looked at though
They weren’t “being active” issues though, were they? (Barring the Rashford idiotic decision)

He’s hailed as some revolutionary for buying Onana to try and play out from the back by signing a keeper who likes the ball at his feet. City have been doing this since 2016, Liverpool have been doing it for some time as well. Nothing has changed and they haven’t taken a step forward this summer, they will get killed when they have to play every few days when the champions league group stages happen.
The part's of the match I watched yesterday were just one big hoof, I didn't see much playing out from the back.

tbh that out of context screenshot is the sort of crap I see thrown at City. Sorry, dont mean to rain on your parade but casemiro was on brought down by a forest defender and is getting up there, he wasnt interfering with play, he was on the floor, the ball was clearly crossed over him to rashford, the keeper could see it all the way.

Are you really saying you would want City to not get that? Thats unfair? Because I would be livid if that was cancelled.
it isn't out of context though for the point being made.
The context is it is when rashford played the ball in, some belive that is when the forward pahse of play started and untill that passage of play ends casemero remains in an offside position, clearly the officials don't believe that is when the phase stated and the goal stands

I realy am not arsed it was given as the rules on when the phase started are down to the officials and open, when the cross comes in if that is the start of the phase of play thenhe was onside when he scored and fernades crosses, and that is the end of it

plus of city got it I would smirk and think we got lucky there it could have gone either way especially with our refs

havent seen he goal but isnt it like every free kick players stand off side while kick taken then on side as defence retreats as long as they dont go for ball and touch it firstthere not off side

Pretty remarkable that Postecoglu and Pochettino seem to have made the same progress in 1 month that ten Hag has made in 1 year.
Ten Hag first and foremost made progress with the cup drawings, and he dared to put demands on his board and players. I'll give him that. Otherwise he's no upgrade to Ole or Rag in terms of strategy. Touted as a tachtician, caught with pants down on so many substitutions. Saved by a brave face and lucky drawings emulating results.

Thanks. I think the fact that he got back onside might have something to do with it. But in what circumstances could offside possibly be given, under this description below? I think the Casemiro goal fits this ideally, and should be offside.

I'm not too fussed about this decision though, so long as this is applied consistently throughout the season. My main point was that this is a legitimate question, asked by quite a few Blues, who were subsequently labelled "loons", but no explanation was offered as to why it was onside.

I think the "moment the ball is played" means the last touch, not a previous one. And it covers Casemiro standing in an offside position when Fernandes passes towards him but someone else scoring without he, himself becoming "active".

Pretty funny I am trying to justify this decision as I think the offside rules are unneccesarily complicated. To me, Casemiro should be offside in the spirit of the game.

Remember his speech last year on beating those cunts in the cup final..... Fish/out/of/water.

Totally hate them, always getting the rub of the green and if the Dinner Lady didn't play for the scum but someone like Accrington Stanley, I doubt he would have got that MBE. I found it really arrogant he added it to the usernames of his socials. I bet Prince William the FA head had a say in him getting it.

"I think...". This is the problem. The laws are unclear. They are open to interpretation, and funnily enough, the interpretations always seen to favour certain clubs.

Ironically, I think Casemiro should be onside in the spirit of the game. He fell during the attack and was only offside because he fell. He then got back up, got himself onside, and was onside when Fernandes laid the ball off to him. He wasn't seeking to gain an advantage.

Spirit of the law or strict interpretation of the law? When certain referees are deciding, apply whichever gives the best outcome to the preferred team.

The annoying thing is though you can sit watching a rag game and predict what is coming up next, dodgy penalties and kicking fuck out of the opposition with impunity and any contentious offsides will only go one way. Strange isn’t it?
Lucy Letby got convicted of being a serial killer on less sound circumstantial evidence than the constant evidence before our eyes that shows that united receive favourable treatment.

How can you be not active standing in front of the goal six yards out in an offside position and go on to score. The offside rule is a joke as was Sheffields wrestling of Erling earlier in the box

It’s Clear and organised what’s going on,would forest have got that pen or would the rags have had a player sent off like the forest player..
Would they have fuck ..
Watching MOTD last night and the agenda couldn't be more blatant. Rags get a pen for a bit of a tug on Rat Face's shorts. City get nothing for repeated rugby tackles on Haaland in the box.

Of course rival fans won't care because they've all been manipulated into believing City are cheats but the pro-Utd agenda will bite them in the arse more often than not when they play the scum themselves, particularly at the toilet.

The PL and PGMOL should give United 3 points for every home match and tell the away team not to bother turning up. That way away teams and their fans don't have to go through another cheating display from referees and VAR officials at Old Trafford.
Or, as they've now set a precedent for apologising for incorrect (corrupt) decisions that always seem to favour united, they might as well just automatically issue a pre recorded apology for the forthcoming 'contentious' decision prior to every united game.

The one you are referring to, the one shown on Motd, wasn't discussed by the commentator, other than var had looked at it and totally ignored by the pundits.
In my opinion the ref did not want to give City a second penalty for fear of a backlash and var backed up their mate.
Compare and contrast to the rag penalty. This is why fans say the fix is in. The PL, Pigmob and the media need a successful rag team, aka, a successful brand. Its where the money is.

Scudamore's infamous 'a strong M***hester U*d...' comments, when he basically admitted it.

Well their next 2 games are Arsenal away, followed by Brighton at home. Going by what I've seen so far, the ref's and VAR are really going to have raise their game again if the scum are to get any points out of those matches.
Hopefully, some justice will be done and they'll get the first of several comeuppances, and tumble down the league a bit more - towards their rightful place.
Scum!
