United Thread - 2023/24

I've posted this in the Bobby Charlton thread, but it probably should belong in here, and I'm genuinely interested in our responses to my question.

We've been singing the "jelly and ice cream" song for years. Thousands of impressionable young blues will have heard thousands of older blues singing that song, thousands of times. They will have heard dad's sing it, mum's sing it, brothers, peers, uncle Tom Cobley and all sing it. Drummed into them from an early age, accepted as harmless "bants" without any thought as to the inevitability of it happening.

So, we have a problem here Blues.

If we're calling out and reporting fellow Blues over a couple of misguided Charlton chants, God only knows what will happen when the GPC finally moves on. We'll have more banning orders than SC holders.

We'll have a 1000 page thread with Blue on Blue rows, hand-wringing off the scale, 18-25 group blame, ban hammers, a general shitshow. Older Blues ashamed by the chant, despite the fact they've probably all sang it on every away concourse across the land, as I have..on many an occasion.

There will be totally justified grief across in Trafford, but the grief amongst us Blues will be just as unpleasant.

So, I have a simple question. The next time you hear the "jelly and ice cream" song will you join in?
I agree, i fucking hate that club from the bottom of my heart and wish them all the bad luck in the world and wish they went bust and went out of business. But i don't hate the person, the human, we should all respect life and i will be observing any silence on Sunday out of respect for his family but not out of respect of that fucking club that i despise so much.

Can't wait for the official memorial poster covered in sponsors again.
Yes, there were 23 killed in that crash, one of them being our own Frank Swift but what publicity do they all get for that? Only the players. I do not begrudge them of their memories as the country remembers its war dead each November but what is disgusting is to use Munich as a marketing matter and it happens through indoctrination.

Cant help feeling that they are setting themselves up to fail here, if we keep our focus we will smash them.

They will do what they have done in Derbies for the last 5 years. Set up defensively and let City have the ball, they have to be stopped from getting their head up and finding Rashford in the channels. Big game for Walker this, I wonder what minute of the game Pgmol will give the raggies their lucky break?

They are smash and grab merchants these days, can anyone think of a derby when they have actually played City off the park and battered us?

Well said mate. The 2-1 result there all those years ago was considerably sweeter to me because of the big effort all true blues made before the match in the concourses to make sure the silence was observed. The pathetic airplane arms out goad by a small minority of their fans at the start of the silence was ignored. City fans were impeccable.

If anyone is outraged by a bunch of footy fans singing distasteful songs I'm not sure they understand the culture...

I like Punk music but I think Frigging in the Rigging is an health and safety nightmare and those Pistol Chaps should be thrashed
It's just the usual double standards that is annoying, especially where united, the media and their fans are concerned... so very very good at giving it out but not quite so good at taking it.

Lets be 'Impeccable' during the 1 minute silence then be 'Impeccably' loud as we smash their fucking back doors in during the game.

How say you?

Funny that they are insisting on a minutes silence not a minute applause that would recognise his great life his achievements that we have all seen last few days on tv..

What about if the City fans applauded for a minute during the silence, love to see what the media would have to say about that.
If its good enough for our Franny then surely it's good enough for Bobby.
