Remember Sky wanted to actually buy united, undoubtedly because of the potential viewing figures and subsequent advertising revenue that could be generated from all their "fans" throughout South East Asia in particular.. when they were prevented from actually buying them they did the next best thing and effectively became commercial partners with the club.
