Once the euphoria of the welcome back to Manchester signs wear off it'll be all downhill for both parties yet again.
 
It seems like they just cannot and will not learn from past mistakes. Go out and spend an absolute avalanche of money on some unknown and untried player from far-off shores. Give him all the pageantry and grandeur as he strides through the front door, trumpet fanfares heralding the arrival of another saviour. Get the media sycophants to drool over him and shower him with superlatives (again), and when you find he's just yet another mercenary with all the footballing skills of the late Dame Margaret Rutherford, keep it under your hat as you usher him softly out of the back doors, and then run around to the front to welcome the next multi-million pound signing through the door.
