Looks like Ratcliffe actually put an ultimatum to this guy. Almost like he was blackmailed. Like they wanted to make sure to pry him away as soon as possible. Perhaps because of their form. But perhaps also as a way of trying to break and disturb some other plans or arrangements they have learned are in the making regarding this guy.

And, of course, City have also recently announced that their new and incoming director of football will be Portuguese. Just like this guy happens to be.

As I said in an earlier post, just because we have recruited a Portuguese DoF, it doesn’t mean we will be buying anything Portuguese that pulls on a football shirt. Not all of them are of the standard of Bernardo, Rúben and Matheus.

The media putting two and two together and making five, again.

Perhaps. But United might also be working very hard at trying to put two and two together when it comes to upcoming or future City actions and/or plans. And when they happen to think that they have figured out something they might opt to act extremely aggressively. That could also be possible.

Like they did with the piano player, Magliar, Fred, PR37 and others?

They all worked out well.

I'd almost expect any club to act agressively to steal a march on their rivals but trying to oustsmart your opposition can backfire sometimes. What they think their rivals are going to do could turn out to be wrong. PR37 is a great example and Sanchez is another. I do think they'll recruit better (not difficult!!) with Amorim in the mix.
