Finished my daily early swim this morning at 7.30am to find a trio of swim buddies, all Reds, gathered at the shallow end for what can only be described as a 'mutual counselling session' as they discussed last night's events in Bilbao.

Of course, I offered my condolences and joined in the discussion to offer my services to help reduce their collective grief (..not!) over two matters in particular:

First - one Red chum railed against Spurs' tactics, saying they had very little possession, just one shot on goal and played with two deep banks of five in front their goalkeeper, or 'anti-football' as he described it. I just said 'Welcome to our world for the past 15 years..' (there may have been an 'effing' in there, I'll admit..!)

Second - the other two got going about how The Red Filth need to spend big on players over the Summer to 'get back to competing for trophies again'. I pointed out that without European football that would be difficult and, anyway, even the current state of The Filth's finances means that FFP will restrict their financial capability/flexibility. This was then met with 'Well, Ratcliffe will just have to get his hands in his pockets won't he..?' To which I replied with a sentence or three about the APT case and how loans were now treated as impacting on the FFP assessment (..and there were definitely a couple of 'effings' in there too, to emphasise the point!)

I headed for the showers leaving them looking even glummer, saying 'I've been telling you all this for ages, while you've all been banging on about '115' etc but you wouldn't listen.. now it's come back to bite you on your backside.. careful what you wish for, lads!'

Couldn't happen to a nicer club, could it? (..well, apart from The Red Scouse Filth and The Tarquins too..)
Was there a Code Brown at the shallow end?

It could turn out to be a major tipping point, meaning years of seasons like this one where they finish in the bottom half of the table, and where European football is just a memory.

At worst, they could face a relegation battle amid severe financial constraints. A big test will come in the next couple of years where they have to refinance £575m debt. The interest they pay will increase significantly and if I was a potential lender I'd be looking to protect myself by insisting on repayment of capital as well.
wait a minute the financial constarints they voted in to stop little old city has turned a full circle and bit them on the arses

Wow, Amorim is happy (desperate) to leave without compensation.

Nacho isn't happy that he only played 20 minutes of the final after single handedly getting them there, and will 'consider his future' in the summer.

Bruno Rat will consider it an honour to be sold if it helps out the club.

Sancho, Gasford & Anthony will all be happy to be paid off and leave.

Rats and sinking ships come to mind.

Glorious, isn't it.

I vaguely remember it being Jihai Sun against Bolton, a deflection that in typical fashion could have gone anywhere but ended up in the back of City's net?

It wasn't an own goal it was hand ball I think by Dunney. Must be a stato on here that can confirm?

This was what I was remembering ... a 1-1 draw, West Brom 0 shots on target.

Top work

It's fantastic just hope we don't miss out on the top five.
yep need to not take our eye off the ball ahead of Sunday. Am I right in thinking if we lose but Newcastle, Villa and Chelsea all win we'll miss out?

I can’t see the league allowing them to get into a relegation battle they’ll be assisted to avoid sanctions, remember Scudamore saying or words to that effect a good Manchester utd is important for the league..
