United Want To Match And Better City's Youth / CFA Academy

Putting this down to any one thing seems simplistic.

Offhand:
The squad have to be kept believing they can step in to the first XI, and they need to occasionally play to stay a little match sharp.
We can't sell some of the players without paying them off and bumping into FFP.
The manager is expected to win everything he can and every point is critical.
Opportunities for 20 minute runouts have been rare this season, due to not being well ahead and due to injuries occurring.
Demichelis will go at the end of the season (if not earlier), Nasri may go, Fernando maybe. Our 4 fullbacks are not young and will be next in line - they're all 30+.
Some youth players are not eligible for Euro matches, so those who are need the odd match.

What it needs is less need to buy, and that is dependent on looking at the squad for balance. That in turn comes down to what the academy players look like as prospects to the people in charge. If they don't, they won't play them. It may be frustrating but we're not the manager.

I counsel caution against some of the posts on this thread that have castigated you and dismissed the possibility of united ever retaining their dominant position over us when it comes to young talent. It is precisely that bloated, lazy, short-sighted attitude from officials and supporters alike, that ran like writing in a stick of rock through united as an institution that enabled us to so effortlessly overtake them while they were still tiresomely pontificating about the 'united way'.

We have an advantage over them; let's do what we can to make it even wider.

Take a breath, think of that banner - and keep our foot on their fucking throat.

Pefect.

I imagine the manager won't be the manager next season either.

Well they stated a 'goal' as having a team with a core of locally trained players in it in the nearish future, as indeed has the captain.

I know, and I approve of the idea.
The CFA is under a year old - that's a very short timescale to date.
The tradeoff between youth and success is their dilemma to wrestle with, and we're just spectators to it.

As I have pointed out, the CFA is a change of venue not a new academy. The acadamy players in it were mostly already here & have been coached in the manner of the City 'project' for years.

It's the first team which is out of sync with the academy.

I keep hearing that we don't give youth a chance - who are all these teams that give youth a chance in the PL?

Just a quick scan at Premier League games only for this season, the Rags have blooded 5 youngsters for a grand total of 16 games (including from subs bench)! Hardly groundbreaking. The clubs with the most are Spurs with 8 players and 52 appearances (including subs). The likes of Watford, Palace and Stoke have not blooded one single player from their youth ranks this season.

No.

I never claim it but you fuckers do all the time. It's 'those in charge' & 'the club' who of course back your argument & therefore prove that people like me have no viable opinion.

I think it's Pellegrini not 'the club' that's my opinion. If you know I'm wrong then prove it & I will accept it.

Otherwise stop using 'those in charge' & 'the club' to prove your point.
I see you're in your "dick" mode Nev, I didn't "make a point", I expressed an opinion (the same as you) but as usual you didn't bother actually reading anything and just did your usual knee jerk crap.

BTW, who exactly are "you fuckers"? Anyone who doesn't agree 100% with you? You know your post reeks of paranoia don't you?
