Unpopular Opinions on Footballers

Left 4 years after you claimed when he last could be arsed. That’s the problem, Madrid away semi summed up his last couple of years along with his shit off the pitch. Yaya was something else at times for us, big game moments a plenty. Never in a million years a better player than Silva or Kdb though or a better professional. To be fair though that’s why it’s an unpopular opinion thread ;)
Indeed, I think we should have cashed in earlier, his legs had gone by the time he was 32. But in those years at his peak, for me, he’s the best we’ve had.

A few on the England squad:

Rice isn't even the best midfielder at West Ham, and would be viewed through a completely different lens had he decided to represent Ireland.

Kane doesn't get enough criticism for how frequent (and sometimes long) his patches of dreadful form are.

Saka is alright. Not nearly as good as pundits say. Did very little in his England games and was a bit fortunate last night to see the own goal go in after crossing for Sterling far too late.

Sterling didn't have a bad season, just a bad few months after Christmas.

Mason Mount is Danny Drinkwater 2.0

I never really thought much of Raul from Madrid.

You asked for honest opinions...

Yaya Toure is very easily the best player I've seen in a City shirt in my 60 years of watching the Blues.

Kevin De Bruyne played better under Manuel Pellegrini than he has under Pep Guardiola.

Andy Morrison was a better captain and leader for City than Vincent Kompany.

No matter how much money we spend this year or in the future, City will NEVER sign a striker as good as Sergio Aguero.

A penalty was the correct decision last night, despite the uproar in Denmark, Scotland and Ireland lol
Yes he went down easily but there was contact from two defenders and running at that speed its enough to warrant a penalty.

Sterling was poor last season, especially when compared with his previous two.

Saka is a flash in the pan for me but fair play to Southgate for picking him, he is unpredictable, one minute Messi like the next moment he looks like Rick Holden, but all in all a nightmare to mark.

International football was once the pinnacle now nowhere near it.

i could name just as many games where silva and aguero were invisible. yaya made grown men look like children playing against him. a player that we will never see again/replace. he scored 25 goals from holding midfield. a beast of a player.
