I've just cone back from Australia. Anyone who moans about our rail service needs to go there and try it.The rail fare increases still make our rail service one of the best in the world and is excellent value for money
Bill. You cannot get an ambulance whether you are having a heart attack or not. There are elderly people lying on the pavement with suspected broken bones for 10 hours waiting for an ambulance. That is not the Daily Mail shit stirring its a fact. And if someone is having a potential heart attack and can't afford it ?
Lets face it if the Tories did that they'd get slaughtered. Headlines like "They Have Blood On Their Hands"
So if I'm having a heart attack or a stroke, as long as I'm breathing I should ring a taxi ?
How cheap are the flights? When I was there years ago it was dead cheap to fly from Melbourne to SydneyI've just cone back from Australia. Anyone who moans about our rail service needs to go there and try it.
There are 3 trains a day between Sydney the pretend capital and Canberra the real one. 3 ! You cannot get a direct train from Melbourne to Canberra and the whole rail system is underfunded and wank.
We just love to moan and it's why we are fast becoming a 3rd world country.
Only if he can breathe underwater and it's a very unusual car...Would you still be alive after being driven all the way from Australia?
There should be a £20 charge to use an ambulance, watch how many people decide they’ll get to A&E another way or don’t bother going because they don’t really need to.
This is true. It is probably because they want money for alcohol or drugs instead. Most have some form of addiction or dependency.
I did the same as you, went in a couple of shops (poundland and home bargains, it both within touch distance) bought drinks, sandwich anti bac handwash (it was cheap and summer 2022, thought might as well give him something to wash his hands if he is on the street all day).
Deliberately picked out a sandwich I thought he was more likely to eat (chicked salad).
Gave it all to him and thank you I got didn't seem to be genuinely pleased.
It’s not important if they are grateful though, your small act of genuine kindness is what counts. If they throw it in the bin, or swap it for change, it's their choice to make.
I always ask them what they want first and then get them something completely different.I’m not knocking people for showing kindness but I’ve always thought it a bit odd when I see people buying food for a homeless person sat outside a shop, without asking them what they’d like first? Don’t think any of us would dream of buying anyone else lunch without asking them what they fancy first.
