Anyone that thinks we should stick with Dunne, needs to take a close look at the Celtic goal on Saturday, Celtic had one player in our half when Samaras got the ball, it looks like Killen is 6 or 7 yards ball side of Dunnie and by the time it gets to him he is 5 yards goal side of him. If you think about its actually hard as a defender to fuck that up any worse.

But Dunnie was player of the season for four seasons and he is a loyal servant and he played well for Ireland
Yes he has been player of the season here and yes he is a loyal club servant. As for playing well for Ireland, frankly who gives a fuck! Sun is a superstar in China and that still didn't stop me feeling overjoyed when he left the club. It's like Ricky Hatton, a really great boxer, but if you asked me of he should fight again I would say no, over time your lifestyle catches up with all of us, that's a fact. Dunne will go down was one of the best buys the club has ever made(don't forget Everton were just looking to offload him to anyone)and in his time with the club he has been great. However, two things have happen over the last 12 months that will be the end of his career with us,
1, He has lost a fair amount of his pace and as a result almost all his form.
2, The club is no longer looking to finish lower to mid-table and even at his best Dunne wasn't a top 6 defender.

Going back to the defence, with our defensive coach Derek Fazackerly gone, I just hope his replacement is up to the job. Another season of shipping goals like the previous campaign will rule us out of European football for another year. A top class CB is now urgently required to support Toure.

Mate with all due respect, Fazackerly was a joke, whenever we'd go to training you would watch Faz and he didnt have a clue, it was like, what exactly is his job, he was a yes man for Sven, Pearce and Kingy Keegan(:P).[/quote]
I thought Fazackerly went ages ago?(I mean early last season).

i dont want to turn this into a dunne bashing thread as im so grateful for all he's done at city, and would actually like him to stay on as back up, think he'd be ideal when called upon, but i doubt at his stage of his career he'd be happy with that scenario, but i'd be happy with upson imo, he is better than we have, ned potentially will be better but not yet, and no one really knows how good kompany is at CB in the prem, but i dont think were in a position to say "maybe kompany might turn out to be brilliant at CB"(although it would be great if he turned out to be a tremendous CB) hangeland would be a good signing as well imo! and on the AM/RM I wouldn't be suprised if bentley rocked up at city. . . . . . just my thoughts

I would be very suprised if we ended up with Bentley, one thing though I have never seen him play anything but wide on the right, he can play a more central role too?

Fuck Ben Haim off and keep him for cover I am happy with that. Not good enough to start for us anymore though.

Also when Kompany and RSC are fit I seriously doubt he will even get on the bench. This being the case I expect him to go Villa or Sunderland.

I would prefer him to go to a midtable / bottom half side if he is sold.

If we do sign Upson maybe he can bring Steve Clarke along with him, he was behind the the most organised defence I've ever seen (Chelsea in Mourinhos era) and tunred West Ham form being all over the place to being a very solid unit at the back.

The problem with Ben Haim is the money he is on, I'm pretty sure it's more than Dunnie.
