Yeah, pisses me off every time Germany hosts a tournament. Oh England was at war with France at the battle of Waterloo too so the French hosting a tournament offends me.
Then there was the Spanish Armarda coming over to have a go at Sir Francis Drake, interrupting his game of bowls on Plymouth Hoe, so a Spanish tournament offends me.
Then there's the fucking Roman's and the Vikings.....
I'm sure the same will be said at the next world cup should Trump return to being president...

And all of your examples are of those countries being the warring or invading country.

Saudi Arabia wasn't responsible for 11/9.

Send the kids and have the 1st team take a break.
Nah bugger that.

Ok, the tournament isn't the most prestigious, but it's not easy to qualify for (until the rule changes come in, which will make it easier to qualify for, but harder to win).

Now we're in it, let's get it won.

Tbh, I'm kind of hoping City can use it as leverage to persuade Bernardo and Gundogan to stay. You don't get many good chances to win this, it's in December, why not do one more year.

actually, saudi arabia changed a lot lately; believe me; about women's right etc, they are getting ahead of us (turkey) (ok, i am exeggerating a little-they still have a long way to go, but they are on the right track lately). probably you ll buy beer in fanzones (thats what happened in 'Qatar'') maybe some top class hotels...dont know.
Beer in fanzones? What could possibly go wrong?

I live in Riyadh and it does look like alcohol is coming but I can't see it happening this year. So don't expect booze at this tournament. The Red sea resorts are going to have their own laws so it's a bit different.

That being said it is relatively easy to get alcohol if you want it - not just home brew. There is a pub in the British Embassy as well but you need an invite.

It will also be very easy to fly in and out from the UAE / Bahrain or Qatar all of which openly serve alcohol.
hundreds of us bladdered in the Embassy. It’s happened before...

As a New Yorker who was directly affected by the September 11th attacks, the fact that Saudi Arabia is hosting the Club World Cup puts a stain on the entire event for me.
My grandad didn’t go to go to Germany for the 2006 World Cup for similar reasons- he said it would have brought back too many memories of his final day in Auschwitz (when he fell out of the machine-gun turret).
