US Politics Thread

Outside of the pandemic, name me a policy where the people benefitted where the GOP didn't have a hand in.

Something original.
Social Security
Medicare
Medicaid
Civil Rights Act
Assault Weapons Ban
Obamacare
Constitutional Right to Abortion
Constitutional Right to Same Sex Marriage

All programs, policies, or legal precedents benefiting the non-wealthy and/or marginalised in America that most Republicans opposed when they were passed (some vehemently, including long filibusters to attempt to stop them from being passed) and that Republicans have tried to eviscerate or eliminate ever since, all whilst continually running companies and/or receiving money from companies and/or sitting on boards of companies that then fail and demand a bailout from the US government, which the republicans are always quick to provide.

Republicans believe the following and act accordingly:

The poor deserve to be poor, the rich deserve to be right; profits should be privatised and losses should be socialised.

Neither party live up to their ideals, but their ideals—especially now—are almost diametrically opposed.

Trying to act as if they are the same is ludicrous at this point, as the New American Nazi party has devoured the GOP.

One side believes in giving more power and freedom to the people (but often falls short of their goals), whilst the other believes in taking more and more power and freedom from the people (and is actually more regularly succeeding).

You can level “Democrats fail in their stated mission” criticisms all you want, but at least the party platform isn’t literally about trying to turn American culture back to the 1930s, when white wealthy “Christian” people were dominant and unquestioned, and everyone else was there to do their bidding.

You sound ridiculous with your both sides statements, because they are ridiculous. And, as the current GOP strip away more and more rights in their states (and try to do it via the courts at the federal level) as each week passes, you sound more ridiculous.

You’re just spouting far-right propaganda and trying to act like a “neutral”.

But anyone with half a brain can see your ideological allegiances.

I just hadn’t realised how far down the hole you had fallen.

Social security? The expansion? Hardly, especially as Biden wanted to put the mockers on it as well (sorry, factual and on vid). Has it even passed yet? Give me the date.

Ah yes Medicare and Medicaid. Where would it be without a Progressive action is Sanders. I wish he was MORE consistent. Not a Dem plan, really, is it?

'Obamacare' was 'RomneyCare', even YOU should know that!

'Civil Rights Act'?? Which decade are you talking about?! If you're going to reach that far back, then the Dems originally opposed Civil Rights!

'Same Sex Marriage' is about as original as it gets even though Obama originally opposed it. There's your 'win'.

Didn't Biden have the nerve to scream "We beat Big Pharma this year!" all whilst taking huge bucks from them (No! No! That's not true, he cries!)??

Hilarious that you don't see it! Have at it! I'm off to bed!
