US Politics Thread

100 years time there will still be angst and some bugger in a funny t shirt shaking a fist at the establishment.
And by then they will be doing it from halfway up a mountain, or as it will be known, a coastal retreat

why would you piss off pratically your whole base on such a major policy.
In politics, especially USA politics, as always "follow the money"
It would be interesting to find out how much the arms industry are spending to own both republican and democrat politicians (probably not quite as much as big pharma and the wealthcare insurance companies, but still sizable amounts

I understand that mate but this really is a huge decision that actually could fuck him over come the ballot box. Those younger voters won't forget easily. I get they aren't going to vote for Trump either but they could still be stubborn fuckers and not vote at all knowing what Biden has done.

This Florida abortion ruling will make it interesting. Florida was a swing state but with a solid and steady influx of retirees its swung into solid red in recent years.

The recent Alabama result showed that abortion can swing a deep red southern district. This could be one to watch.

I will never understand the willingness to throw an election for a far right government foreign government who wants your rival in power….

Maybe he's a true believer in the project. Seems strange from a bloke who bangs on about being Irish, but he lost what marbles he had long ago.

Wait a minute.

"Just under half" (49%? 48%) of Wisconsin Democrats polled approve (strongly or somewhat) of Biden's handling of the war.

So . . . that means based on the youth vote shown (without knowing the age split) that a majority of older Democrats in WI actually approve of his handling of the war?

And who is more likely to vote -- older people or younger ones?

And then there's this . . . "The poll was commissioned by Listen to Wisconsin, a campaign to mobilize protest votes during the battleground state’s primary in order to push the White House to change course on its support for the war on Gaza. According to the survey, which was conducted by Poll Progressive Strategies, nearly 26 percent of Wisconsin Democrats support that campaign, which would have voters cast a ballot for “Uninstructed delegation” rather than a candidate."

Not sure this data shows what the tweeter wants it to show, nor am I at all confident the polling entity itself can be unbiased (in fact, the opposite).

Hard to say…he’s either a disingenuous cynical bastard or a true believer…

It could be two different blokes. But maybe he was always just a ****.

This Machiavellian marbles missing geriatric will lose his presidency because he was too weak to tell Israel to stop.

I guess the calculation made here is Biden can make up votes from an older electorate that traditionally votes Republican rather than a younger electorate that votes Democrat.
