US Politics Thread

That's why i didn't say fascist, i still think that term is a little too much and being overused in every context, suddenly a week before the election.
But MSC didn’t mention Hitler, so why did you indicate Trump was not Hitler in response to his post?

Also, the “fascist” label isn’t being “suddenly used”; many respected scholars, historians, and political analysts have been calling him and the MAGA movement fascist for some time. I have linked and quoted them many times in this and other threads.

It is just recently that it is becoming more obvious to more people. And many are trying to point out the parallels of the resistance to labelling them as fascist now to the resistance that existed to acknowledging what was eventually labelled fascist ideology in the 1920s which was sweeping Europe. As such resistance helped enable their rise, as such views from people like MSC are doing now.

But beyond that, why do you feel the label “fascist” does not apply to Trump, Vance, and MAGA more generally?

I think he's generally referencing the hysterical comparisons to Hitler / nazi Germany that are going on rather than any of my posts.

Whilst he doesn't seem to have a solid fascist ideology, he has some 'ideas' that certainly fit into the fascist template.

If you have the opportunity to listen to Rachael Maddow's podcast 'Utlra' (series 1 & 2) and see just how much of Trump's rhetoric chimes with the 'German American Bund, The Silver Liegion of America, William Dudley Pelley, McCarthyism, etc'.

It's frightening how much of it aligns with what is going on today.

Trump has a fascist world view rather than a fascist ideology.

But the real power behind his campaign and the MAGA movement absolutely hold fascist ideals, and electing him would enable them to attempt to realise those ideals (in a way that wasn’t really possible in Trump’s first term).

We get it, you aren’t a student of history, you don’t have to keep posting about it.
Mate, your country is not as old as the moss on some buildings in Europe. It's basically a couple of hundred years old and you probably just need to go through the growing pains of killing each other and infighting for a few hundred years like everyone else. You sort of missed the boat with religion so maga and whatever the democrats think they are will have to pass for your own go at sectarianism.
Ultimately all that matters is the voters out there. The fact that I'm an uneducated nazi etc doesn't matter as I don't have a vote.

'Hysterical'?

Maddison Square Garden as a venue was no coincidence, along with many other 'coincidences' along the way. Someone in the campaign (if not Trump himself) knew the exact connotations of that venue, and if that doesn't set alarm bells ringing in your head, then you really don't understand the history at all.

My country? I’m not American, which you would know if you actually read these threads or retained anything from reading them.

And it does matter if you are an uneducated Nazi, as I care about the future of my home countries of the UK and Spain and people like you will have a say in the courses they take.

Of course it is no coincidence, just like Kamala is planning to do a Dr King impression for her last turn in the same place as his famous speech. It's all play acting and hamming it up for the masses.
