There is no fucking joy in any of this. None. We have millions upon millions to deprogram. It will take years. Many of them will go down with their messiah. And a lot could go wrong between now and then. A LOT.

I am not afraid of them. I just don’t want any more innocent people getting hurt by their inarticulate rage, fed by Rupert Murdoch and the NRA. And the sleepers inside police departments worry me a little. Not where I live but elsewhere.

As a broader point, this is why it would be interesting to see what happens if Vivek manages to swing the VP ticket he’s fishing for.

The whole MAGA cult is formed around the idea of being against things that sound “un-American”. It feels inevitable that the cult will turn in on itself if a brown person with a foreign sounding name gets on the ticket. Surely only a matter of time until there’s GQP conspiracies about him being a double-agent or something.
