US Politics Thread

He has a room at the White House with a podium and studio facilities from where he could address the world. That would spread across all platforms by his lovers and his haters alike. He is simply personally banned off one social platform.
Maybe so, I am still not comfortable with what i think is an over reach of corporate power. Banning a person who is democratically elected sets a dangerous precedent for future censorship of political views that don't appeal to certain corporate entities.

What if twitter decides to ban Biden next, the lack of response to the banning of Trump makes it more likely and before long they can start banning all politicians and we move into the realms of Corporate power crushing Democracy and states becoming Oligarchies.

There’s a code of conduct as there is on here. He broke it for 4 years before they finally acted. The only thing that should make you feel uneasy is the fact they actually had to ban him and how a **** like that just received 75m votes.
Did you see the video above posted by bluthrunthru?

What do you reckon?

Honest question as I’ve always been split on whether banning him will help him. Maybe he’ll go away and create his own platform and it’ll cause further division.

No. When we hang despots they become martyrs FOR A WHILE, maybe. But they are still despots. And the us and them dynamic was around before, will be around for a long time anyway. Twitter has rules. He violated them. He’s therefore gone. He was warned. He ignored the warnings. He should have been gone a long time ago; I agree this isn’t the BEST time. But this is like letting the three-year old off the hook when he throws a tantrum.

There’s. A. Code. Of. Fucking. Conduct.

It’s a private company. It can do what the fuck it wants and it’s not even a monopoly.

It’s because of inadequate (ie virtually ‘no’) censorship on platforms like twitter and Facebook that western democracy is fucked.

Wow , so many white police helped them in, they need a clean sweep
The implications for policing in some places are incredible, where elected officials have been Trump enablers (or just plain as mad as others with conspiracy theories).
