US Politics Thread

The biggest problem for those now denouncing Trump as the second coming of Satan himself (including DeSantis) is that they all kissed his arse on the way up and never even considered an exit strategy for when it all went tits up. Trump will have so much dirt on every single one of them and he isn't going to go down without a fight. There will be a lot of careers going up in flames before the dust settles on this.

Rick Wilson (co-founder of the Lincoln Project) was right when he said 'Everything Trump Touches Dies'.
Agree, but there was a time you had to kiss Trumps ring to get on in the GOP. Now if you kiss his ring you lose your election. So trump will be increasingly alone.

What was especially heartening about this election was the rejection of the “fraudulent 2020” narrative. We knew the abortion narrative would be a draw for young blues. But the number of independents and even Republicans who rejected red candidates BECAUSE of the “fraud 2020” lines they took is staggering — you can see it in the ticket splits for the Sec of State races where every single election denier lost. And since that’s all those candidates had as a platform, they aren’t coming back. Mo Brooks — that limp-dicked crowd-riler on 1/6 — eviscerated Trump yesterday (like the shit hypocrite he is); Pence’s book is coming and all indications are it won’t be kind to Trump. One politician who should be on stage right now — Liz Cheney. Suddenly there might be an opening for her as a candidate for President in 24. I cannot stand her politics but she’s going to get a lot of points for standing up in the face of all this. Like with Nixon, eventually Trump was always going to become a pariah — it was just a matter of when. I thought (and worried) it would take longer than this.

I've long thought Cheney might stand. Initially just to piss of Trump especially if she could stop him running unopposed. I think she genuinely hates him and behind the scenes has many backers. I did think she had no chance and it would have been an exercise in just calling him a liar, a sort of cathartic process of challenging him on his BS.

But she has a genuine chance now. Its moving in her direction. It has a long way to go but if he implodes then her odds would start to look much better.

Disagree on genuine chance.

She may not be authoritarian like Trump but she'll be reviled by the Christian Nationalists for not falling in line when Trump gave them the scotus majority.

I'd say DeSantis has the nomination in the bag but I'm not sure he has the general election yet.. Gen Z will make or break the next election. Lets see if abortion, college student debt still resonate in 2 years.

I don't know how. But also I had a load of money in a saving account in the Cayman Islands with a company that "went bust" but mysteriously still has offices in other territories, so I'm a bit suspicious about the whole thing. Currently going through the administrators.

I should really be putting money into the Malaysian pension scheme, which you can take out when you leave.
Ffs investing in Man united shares, call yourself a blue … <shakes head>
