Herp dee derp.

Look at the new platform the “prohibitive favo(u)rite for the GOP nomination” is offering up.

He isn’t toast. But the bread is getting crispier.

And not 1 republican has called him out on it.

I doubt that Trump faces charges over 1/6 - it's a complex case, hard to prove, no smoking gun. Trump is, however, doing his best to supply evidence suggesting culpability.

On the other hand, the case against Trump for mishandling top secret documents - and likely obstruction of justice - seems like a slam dunk. I expect that this will lead to formal charges.

Agree - but why take so long. Why nit charge him the same day the docs were found. With every day, week, month that passes the less a conviction seems likely.

This evidence was a gift to prosecutors. They seem to be sitting on it. Madness.

There are numerous reasons that Trump was not immediately charged.

First, there's the ramifications of charging a major political figure. Better, if possible, to resolve issues outside of court.

Next, there's political impact to consider. If charges might impact a pending election, by policy they won't be brought until after the election is over.

Finally - there's this:

You come at the king? - you best not miss.

Agree. But re point 1 and 2. The feds were entirely in control of the timescale and the point when they raided was as good as any to charge. It was way ahead of mid terms. Even if it was close they they could have just gone in sooner. Or wait until now (but that would have been a risk). They should have gone when they did, or sooner, and with a plan that if the evidence was as it is they should have immediately asked him to come in and then charged him. The law makes no exception for former POTUS. Would a low level staffer get charged straight away?

The Department of Justice served a search warrant on Mar-a-Lago as a last resort. Political ramifications were absolutely - and I think properly - in play. Had Trump shown the least bit of cooperation - or had national security ramifications been less severe - nothing would have happened.

IMO The Department of Justice is proceeding prudently and in a manner I entirely approve of. Jack Smith, the Special Counsel now in charge of this matter, will, I fully expect, recommend that charges be brought against Trump and when that occurs, I fully expect that Garland will bring charges.

How about waiting to get a conviction till any appeal to the SC is after 2024 elections? Or are his SC appointees already cutting and running?

"I can't be really chasing every one of these crazy statements that come from any of these candidates."

Or did he mean...

"I can't be really chasing every one of these statements that come from any of these crazy candidates."

Do you remember the part where they already violently attacked the United States, wanted to murder the VP, and install this very same guy that they absolutely agree with right here as President?

You know these people are real, right? There are literally 30-50 million of them in this country right now.

Laugh at it, ignore it, call other people names all you want but they themselves are telling us who they are and what they want..

They keep saying "we are coming for you. ... You think you can replace us? You're wrong. We will replace you."

Think we have to actually take this threat for real.

Fascism's best friend is indifference.
Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
