I may have asked the resident yanks before, but what is making a large amount of ‘Latinos’ vote republican?
Many of them are Catholic - so abortion is a big issue. Catholics tend to be very conservative socially as well.

Only in Florida and Texas.

Most of them are from Cuba and if you label something communist/ socialist.. it automatically refers to Fidel Castro in Florida.

As far as Texas.. that's ultra hard core religious country.. like you could have a mass shooting where the GOP governor screws up and then he still gets votes in by 10 points or whatever it was.

The latino's in other states are more or less what you'd expect.

Basically the weak minded who are easily swayed by a single issue vote Republican. (mostly elderly/ pro abortion/ pro guns/ pro racism/ pro religion)

Same thing with Asians strangely.. the Republicans have really gone after the Vietnamese and Indians (for their anti-China vote) which makes no sense considering Trump loves China and does business there where as Biden is hammering Xi on Taiwan.

I know a few Florida based Cubans. Many have a similar story where they were the more wealthy (but relative wealth) back home. With the revolution they lost everything. Some fled straight away, other left over the years. In each case they pretty much left with nothing. So they don't like socialism.

Its the reason Republicans love calling Dems socialist. And also the reason there is still no real formal relations between the USA and Cuba. Its a political vote loser in Florida.

Mexicans dont have the same issue and New Mexico / California are both Dem states.

Texas Senator Ted (Raphael) Cruz is the son of a Cuban who fled to the USA to escape the Castro regime.

Explains a lot.

I'm looking forward to the runoff election results in Georgia. A Warnock win would signal - if not a return to normalcy - at the very least, the rejection of completely unqualified candidates wholly lacking in moral values. On the other hand, a win for Walker - well, that's too terrible to contemplate.

It's a near certainty the Dems will take it.
