I don't think at all that Dax777 is this extreme - but I'm honestly confused why he objected to my previous portrayal of his opinion on gun rights - thus the post asking for his explicit views on this topic.

He picked Joe Rogan to be president out of a list of a dozen former presidents and candidates.

What are your views on gun laws then? It seems to me that you're in favor of open carry of assault rifles. But I may be wrong.

What then is your stance?
My views on gun laws are not simplistic. And they are heavily dependent on reality.

In a vacuum, I'd want a society with no guns. Not the Citizens, Not the Police, no one. Not even for hunting. I find the whole practice of hunting barbaric.

But I chose to come live in a country where about 50% believe in their rights to own guns. And where guns are plentiful.

And where the arguments for banning the ownership of those guns are neither easy nor simple.

I'm not generally inclined to making utopian arguments about what ought or ought not to be. Rather, I find what's feasible and not feasible in light of the real circumstances on the ground a much more worthwhile discussion.

Hence why I generally sidestep the seemingly virtue signaling discussions about gun laws.

As for your 2nd question:
I'd rather an open carry law, than a concealed carry law. So there is that.

But on a side note, and a big reason why I often don't engage in this discussion is because I find too many who talk about it know too little about the laws, the guns, and the data as it relates to policy.

So often, it just boils down to virtue signaling about how much more civilized we are than these Neanderthal gun totting Americans.

Which you know, I'm cool with that. Feel superior if you must. More power to yer. :)

I don't particularly remember this. But let's say I did. Is Joe Rogan pro guns?

Newsflash. He isn't. And as he isn't, what would my picking him say about my supposed "gun toting love"?

I’m off to hopefully shoot a Whitetail today, yum

When you have companies hawking firearms for self-defence with such names as 'Taurus Judge', which basically sounds like a cross between a porn star and a Marvel superhero, if gives you an idea of the kind of people we are dealing with here.

Here's a nice shotgun revolver which apparently is perfect for dealing with that most horrific of crimes — a “hot” burglary.

Honestly, if you take fear and stupidity out of the equation you'd likely cut gun deaths in half overnight.

I wonder how many crimes are prevented compared with the number of deaths is.

If your putting Joe Rogan up for the presidency then being pro or anti gun would be the fucking least of your issues...
Ha ha in fact what I meant to write before my thumb hit post was he’s vocally PRO gun control but pro 2nd Amendment.

He’s also a grifter.

The only person who can save this country is a liberal movie star who conservatives love because they think he’s conservative based on the roles he’s played. Unfortunately Arnold is Austrian, and since wasn’t born here, can’t be President, and is too old now. And I don’t think The Rock is running, though I want him to.

I love those pistols, handy for bear protection, also if you see some grouse you can throw a .410 in and shoot it

Ryan Reynolds as his number 2 and I reckon you've still got a chance to survive the decade.. :-)
