Supposedly, Project 2025 was massively unpopular among voters prior to election 2024: https://navigatorresearch.org/a-majority-of-americans-continue-to-oppose-project-2025/

And yet, now that Trump is in office and is basically following the Project 2025 blueprint verbatim, his popularity is at an all time high: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/trump-approval-opinion-poll-2025-2-9/

These two polls - assuming that they accurately reflect public opinion - make little sense to me.

Trump's popularity has led me to believe that true Democracy in the USA may well die. We're very possibly headed towards a Viktor Orbán-led, Hungary sort of pseudo Democracy (https://www.europarl.europa.eu/news...-can-no-longer-be-considered-a-full-democracy, https://www.americanprogress.org/ar...-threatens-the-trans-atlantic-security-order/).

Europe can learn a thing or 2 about Democracy . We all can.
 
If JD Vance thinks that the biggest threat comes from within, he seems to have missed the part where Putin’s army has reduced the eastern part of Ukraine to rubble, killing, torturing and raping their way as they go. I’m pretty sure the populations of Poland, Estonia, Moldova etc. feel that the biggest threat is from without, and they’d be right.

The US would do well to remember this when they start offering concessions to Russia.

Trump would offer up Europe on a plate if it suited him, wouldn’t trust America at all now and our leaders are slowly realising this after Vance’s speech.

So used to making up threats and enemies that he forgets that some countries actually have a real one.

It worries me significantly that anyone can think that, it worries me even more that you’re clearly not alone in thinking it. Every example he gave was disingenuous and his whole speech was such obvious projection, do people not even bother to research anything nowadays?

We have dumbed down so much as a society in the last twenty years, it’s just utterly depressing. At a time when we have more information available than we’ve ever had too and yet we’re seemingly worse off for it.

Dax knows that wasn’t a fantastic speech, he’s a boring WUM on here with little else in his life.
 
I'd say there's one piece of wisdom in Vance's speech, which is that if center/left parties in European countries continue to ignore anger around immigration, they'll end up being run by rightwing loons like Donald Trump and amoral climbers like Vance.

The one where Biff has gone back in time and taken over the town. He has all his cronies running everything and the looneys run amok.

So there you have it. We are all pining our hopes that Doc Brown can fix the Delorean!
