Paging @ChicagoBlue !!!

Just go with your gut, right???

What, and I cannot stress this enough, the actual fuck???

We use the “Sciss-Sas-Brick” (or Rock, Paper, Scissors) method when deciding which way to turn on our flights. Thankfully, I’m still in the lead over the First Officer and International Relief Officer, so I’ve got that going for me!

:-D

As has been said, there appears to be NOTHING coming out of this administration that’s beyond belief!

Personally, I think this whole ATC Drawdown is a ratcheting up of pressure to end the Shutdown, as the Thanksgiving Holiday is the busiest travel period of the year. The Wednesday - Sunday travel period seems to break a new record every year, so if people can’t get to where they were going (Home to family) that weekend, the politicians will hear it loud and clear!

However, if it continues, aviation drops off dramatically between Turkey Day and Santa’s Arrival, so the pressure will be ratcheted waaay down…and some airlines might even like the imposed cancellation of some flights, so they can blame the Govt!

I thought it was absolutely crazy that ATCs have been working for a month and a half now, unpaid. Who would do that? Why not just force the issue by walking off, the country would be ground to a halt. What are you gaining by continuing to work?

Then I learned that in 1981 they did exactly that, and Reagan fired 11,000 of them and never re-hired them. Which is insane, but now it makes more sense.

The effort that's gone into completely crushing any form of collective bargaining in the US to ensure fair working conditions is genuinely dystopian.
