Does this not open the door for the extra dem to be sworn in and then the Epstein files to get released.
And also just push the clock back to Jan where by that time the Reps will have blocked a vote on health care or voted against it.
It's not that bad to me. But maybe I'm not getting the full picture.
The pain was just starting to grow, and the Republicans were the owners of that pain. They were the ones not paying SNAP (food assistance) benefits, they were the ones trying to codify hundreds of billions in tax giveaways to the largest corps and billionaire class, and they were the ones holding out to try and kill the ACA by saying “look how expensive it is! It’s the Unaffordable Care Act!”
But, as is always the case, Democrats are so lily livered and weak, they cannot stand ANY pain!
As we approached Thanksgiving and increasing flight delays and cancellations, it was REPUBLICANS who were going to feel the heat for not paying controllers and RUINING THE BIGGEST TRAVEL HOLIDAY OF THE YEAR!
I sent a letter to my own Senator, Dick Durbin, expressing my displeasure at his weakness on his way out of office, after decades of support. My daughter works for a small business and relies on the ACA for her health care plan. Today, she has literally NO IDEA what that cost will be for 2026, only that it will significantly more, perhaps multiples higher. On top of rising rent & food prices, she is being squeezed, just like many 20-somethings, which is why you see the likes of Mamdani and a couple of young mothers getting elected to the biggest jobs at stake!
Democrats had, for once, shown some backbone, and were ratcheting the pressure on Republicans at a time when Trump and his Cult were at record low voter support. So, what do they do? They organize just enough soon-to-retirees and not running for re-election in 2026 Senators to get to the magic number. Absolute wet fanny brigade!!!
It might have taken a week, possibly two, but Republicans would have been FORCED to allow change to their stance, and as we near Christmas and the retail profit season that makes their entire year, Republicans could not have stomached the malaise that ruining the Christmas shopping season would have produced.
As it is now, Democrats have simply chosen to starve a different group of citizens, in a way that wont impact them until 2026, and will have to do it all over again…and fail…even though millions of Americans will lose their healthcare subsidies, and thus be forced to go WITHOUT HEALTHCARE in the new year, because they simply cannot afford the most expensive healthcare in the world!
Disgraceful, but not unexpected when you have the kind of weak leadership Democrats are famous for electing!

Senator,
It is with a heavy heart that I recognize your vote on ending the Republican Government Shutdown, and note with distaste that you have cobbled together a little Democrat cabal of additional Senators who are not seeking re-election in 2026.
As the Number 2 Democrat in the Senate, I’m really disappointed not only in your vote, but the effect it will have on people like my own daughter, who has to use the ACA to secure minimal health care protection. You have failed her and you have violated the trust of millions of Democrats for whom you had been a staunch advocate during your career.
If anything was learned from the recent elections, it was that standing up to the King and the King makers was a minimum expectation for Democrats going forward. After large steps forward, your actions, and those of your traitorous cabal, have dragged us back to where we were…a plaything for Republicans to toy with!
After years of honorable service, I wish you well in your retirement. However, given this vote and your willingness to ignore the voice of the people who not only sent you to Washington, but also provided you with your long career, that retirement cannot come soon enough.
It is time for change in the Democratic Party, as the voters have clearly indicated, so please take the Minority Leader, Senator Schumer, with you when you leave. Never has a supposed leader looked, sounded and acted as weak as he does every time he steps in front of a microphone.
Sincerely,
