Us the fans

The long term supporters of the club will show a lot of patience , we have waited decades for times like these ,where as the "new fan" is less patient , they have latched on to the club because of the world class players now at the club. Not a criticism of the "new fans" if they get behind the team all are welcome , just two totally different mentalities ,and i am prepared to wait at least another 48 hrs for our next victory!

Wish my mate (Long term supporter) would have patience he's been going 55 years and there isn't a game gone by where he doesn't moan. He slags Yaya every week calling him Yaya Poo Poo. He slags Hart off for his kicking, Dzeko & Aguero for being bad finishers seriously YCNMIU he really gets under my skin I want to strangle him sometimes lol. Only good thing is he doesn't sit near me in 121 he sits in the Gods :)

you're a lucky guy actually getting to go to the games. one of these days...I might get back there
Your the lucky one i have to save up to go to Florida every so often and City playing so many games don't help.

It's unbelievable how much football costs I've get a decent job 40k a year and I can't seem to save a fucking penny she says I blow over £100 every match and that's just the home games. I go to quite a lot of away games I couldn't make yesterday and the ticket prices are easily £40 now because we are classed as Cat A everywhere on top of travel and beer it's scary how much I spend :( I said once I've seen City win everything I'll stop going away games but I know I never will because it's the best part of my life meeting friends getting pissed in the car,Train, bus or even Plane and watching they mighty blues :)

Today following our defeat I had a very interesting conversation with a United fan, first of all it was the usual wind up shit of your going to lose again, watch united go and you haven't got the balls for the top of the table.

Then he said something that took me by surprise.

''City won’t win the league not because of the players or the manager but because of the fans''

The reason he said what he said was because he and other reds who he talks with believe that the people who follow city love nothing more than nurturing misery, in fact we enjoy nothing more than moaning about players, the way we had played and basically we revel in it and that the players will pick up this if our home form dips.

We then chewed the fat and argued our points of view, after that I just dispelled it as nothing more than the fear factor hitting home but then I started to think about it.

Now I sit in block 304 and there are several folk around me that love nothing more than to moan about Dzeko and Yaya in fact they wait for their first mistake and they are on their soap boxes shouting the odds.

Today blue moon is in meltdown some fans have said players are wank, are not fit to wear the shirt and the manager keeps making mistakes yet we are top of the league so why are we really moaning. (19 games 45 points and 53 goals)

I have just watched MOD2 and how we did not win is still a mystery but as someone said earlier it is pantomime season.

So are we really fans who just like to moan who love nothing more than a half empty glass, who don’t really want success or are we going to get behind the team.

If Dzeko was at any other club in the premiership he would be banging the goals in and the transfer forum would be alight with we should buy him, now this isn’t about Dzeko it’s about us as fans. We manage to single out players and berate them to a point where we kill them off (edgehill) went from England prospect to nervous wreck.

Let’s not wreck our season let’s get behind them, slag players off when they are gone, not wearing the shirt. They maybe reading Bluemoon
I'd agree that many City fans are like this, yes. Many City fans think other teams are a joke. Many City fans think because we won 6-1 in one individual game we'll walk the league. Many City fans think because we've spent xxx that means we'll walk the league. Many City fans think we're already as good as a team who've won the title when we're yet to even have experience of challenging for it, even once. Many City fans think we'll score when we want, when we really don't and can't. Many City fans aren't realistic enough. Many City fans are over critical. Many City fans are too knee-jerk after a defeat. Many City fans don't get behind the team at 0-0 or when we're losing. Many City fans leave early regardless of the scoreline or the opposition or the importance of the game...

Many City fans are spot on, realistic, supportive, loyal and vocal.

All clubs have a huge variety of types of fans. I'd say we're a lot quieter than most, but I'd also say we're more knowledgable about the game than some.

Also:
"40 thousand empty seats, it's only 4-1
50 thousand empty seats, it's only 5-1
60 thousand empty seats it's only 6-1"
shows they have very fickle and unsupportive fans just like anyone else (us against Gillingham and Spurs when Croush scored: thousands just fucked off and deserted the team). Every club has the huge array of different types of fans.

Never generalise!

Well at least we dont call out refs after a loss, like Sky 4 fans does.
You're joking aren't you?! Haha, you're funny!

I think fans moan because they are desparate for us to win the league this year. They see the Rags in a vulnerable position and believe as I do that this is the year that we win it.
Anything that stops us potentially winning it is seen as a disaster, it isn't but sometimes for about an hour or so after the game it feels like it.
In the grand scheme of things we have never had it so good, the last two games were absolutely bonkers, crazy games that should have yielded 6 points but we came away with 1.
I moan because I'm nervous, frustrated or so ill with worrying about City that I can't think straight. Sometimes I moan so much that I have to pull myself up after a while.
That feeling of anticipation, dread, expectation leads to over criticism and moaning sometimes, it's called being a football fan.

The last post from Harrogateblue is spot on and exactly how real blues should feel. My journey home from Sunderland was torture for 2 hours. But this morning we are still top regardless of what the press or any fool on sky tv says. As a previous post says, get rid of that disease tevez and we have so much to look forward too. Like most long term blues I can remember the Halifax, Shrewsbury, ect ect fiascos ! We are light years from them days.
None of us will forget them but it's about now ! We are a very good team getting better.
The next 4 weeks may be the most important in our history , come on blues be positive .

''City won’t win the league not because of the players or the manager but because of the fans''

Strange that, just received an email off Bobby. I'm partnering Vinnie in defence against the dippers tomorrow. Better get me boots cleaned then.

Edghill was an England prospect in 1996 before he was badly injured. By the time he came back we were in division 1 and he suffered niggling injuries for a while. As he was playing in a poor team any England prospects were firmly behind him. Edghill was probably heckled from 2000-2001 season due to his terrible distribution. You cannot say that the fans drove him from England prospect to nervous wreck as he'd under achieved for 4 years before the heckling started. (he would have been bought by a premiership side if he was good enough). He was a half decent player in a number of poor sides.

I understand what you are getting at OP, negative vibes and all that. Any team's fans are anxious when they haven't won anything for years. It's only at the swamp and possibly dipperpool (still not rubbed off yet) where they have this aura of invincibility. Yes the players do pick up on our frustrated groans in the crowd when the wrong option is taken or someone blasts the ball over the bar but I genuinely think that the crowd has warmed to and started to understand that our passing game is there to draw the opposition out and they appreciate the skills on show. I think that most fans (kick & rush stalwarts excepted) appreciate that along with Arsenal and Spurs (who are very fast by the way ;-) ) we are taking the game in the premier league to a different footballing level and are prepared to be a little bit more patient when watching a game.

The difference is they EXPECT to win, we still HOPE. That's why we perceive their fan base as arrogant and they think that we are blue moaners.
