US vs UK culture

There are many Americas. There's an enormous difference between Arkansas and California. In weather, topography, food, ethnicity mix, culture, people, language, income levels and lots more. It might as well be two different nations.

Brits will claim there's some enormous difference between South Yorkshire and Somerset when about the only difference is that Merchant and Ivory made some irritating films about the latter and South Yorkshire had coal once.

Diversity of culture is greater in the UK than the US. That's why here you can travel 50 miles and hear 4 totally distinct accents.

There's an entire branch of science behind this. And it's also one of the ways we understand that human language and culture evolved in Africa - the diversity of language and identity covers much smaller areas, thete can be 50 different dialects in a few miles.

Culture always spreads from more diverse to least diverse which is why places like Canada, Australia, and the US have far fewer accents and cultural groups than the UK. And it's also evidence if it were ever needed that the UK predates them.

Makes perfect sense when you think about it.

To be fair, buscuits are actually quite nice; essentially a savoury scone in real money. Gravy on the other hand........ Just NO!
I recently had a twist on it but the gravy was dark and instead of sausage he'd used small chunks of venison...three poached eggs on the side and fried spuds

The small parking space thing is an attempt to control you and make you downsize your car to a Ford Fiesta. We won’t fall for it over here though. We drive huge 4x4 lifted trucks.
