USA 2014 Champions tournament

Looks like our summer schedule is taking shape now. First the rumours of a game against Real Salt Lake, then the mini-Aussie tour against our new A-League club Melbourne Heart plus Brisbane Roar. Now there's a story coming out that we have signed up to be part of the "International Champions Cup" in the USA this coming pre-season.

It looks like this is the spiritual successor to the Herbalife World Football Challenge that we took part in two or three seasons ago, where we played three teams although about a dozen took part, and everyone was ranked like a league. Well, this one appears to be similar only with the possibilities for a semi-final and final at the end.

If the rumours are true, we are already down to play games against AC Milan, Olympiakos and Liverpool. The full schedule is as follows:

July 26, 2014
Inter Milan vs Real Madrid — 4pm ET — Phoenix, AZ
AS Roma vs Manchester United — 6pm ET — Denver, CO
Olympiacos vs Liverpool — 6pm ET — Chicago, IL

July 27, 2014
Manchester City vs AC Milan — 4pm ET — Pittsburg, PA

July 29, 2014
Inter Milan vs Manchester United — 7:30pm ET — Washington DC
AS Roma vs Real Madrid — 9:30pm ET — Dallas, TX

July 30, 2014
AC Milan vs Liverpool — 7pm ET — Philadelphia, PA
Manchester City vs Olympiacos — 9pm ET — New York, NY

August 1, 2014
AS Roma vs Inter Milan — 8pm ET — New York, NY

August 2, 2014
AC Milan vs Olympiacos — 2pm ET — Hartford, CT
Real Madrid vs Manchester United — 4pm — Ann Arbor, MI
Liverpool vs Manchester City — 6pm ET — Charlotte, NC

August 3, 2014
Semi-finals to be played at Sun Life Stadium in Miami, FL

August 4, 2014
Final game and third place match to be played at Sun Life Stadium, Miami

If the story is true, it will also be confirmed on Tuesday - not sure how this website got a sneak peek, but it looks plausible enough to me.

I take it these games, locations and dates are not correct as the draw has not taken place yet? Just checking as trying to talk the wife into going!

Just seen this on World Soccer talk site............The schedule will be announced on February 20, and tickets will go on sale a few days later.

A delegation including Club Ambassador M Summerbee flew over on wed 19 for a press conference re this tournament.

The Pittsburgh Steelers' official website has confirmed that they are to host City v AC Milan on July 27th, which - to my mind, at least - is good enough to confirm the rest of the fixtures also.

Edit: in fact, this is from City themselves:

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.mcfc.co.uk/News/Team-news/2014/February/City-learn-Guinness-International-Champions-Cup-fate" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.mcfc.co.uk/News/Team-news/20 ... s-Cup-fate</a>

"Additionally, this year fans will have the opportunity to purchase an Ultimate Fan Pack which includes one supporters section ticket, team gear and priority access to select team training."

They really know how to milk my teats dry don't they...

Given the teams involved (united aside ;) ) and the fact that there's a little competition called the World Cup going on our squad at least is going to be a little on the thin side is it not?
