Valencia Club de Fútbol have reached an agreement with Manchester City Football Club for the acquisition of Spanish international Álvaro Negredo, on a loan deal with an obligatory purchase clause. Recognised as one of the top strikers in European football, Negredo will be officially presented as a Valencia CF player at Mestalla on Tuesday, September 2nd, at 8pm. The club invite all Valencianistas to attend the presentation, in which the new signing will get to know his new home ground and see the fantastic support that will be spurring the side on this season.

Born in Madrid and with Valencian family members, Negredo began his professional career at Rayo Vallecano in both the ‘B’ team and first team squads, before signing for Real Madrid in 2005. Two years later, thanks to his excellent performances for the club’s second team, Castilla, he was included in the senior squad for various games under manager Fabio Capello. He moved to UD Almería in 2007/08, where he would play for two seasons and score 31 goals in 73 games. Real Madrid exercised their buy-back option on Negredo in 2009, but a club record offer from Sevilla FC eventually took him to Southern Spain that same summer.

Over the course of four seasons at Sevilla FC, Negredo racked up 85 goals from 180 games –a spectacular figure which led to a call up to the Spanish national team. As part of ‘La Roja,’ the striker won the 2012 European Championships in Poland and Ukraine, and to date he has 21 caps for Spain and 10 goals.

Last season saw Negredo play abroad in England, at Manchester City. The now 29 year-old marksman scored an impressive 23 goals from 49 official appearances for the Blues in 2013/14, helping the team to a Premier League and Capital One Cup domestic double. A fan favourite at the Etihad, his goals-per-game ratio was a very high 0.47.

A look at Álvaro Negredo’s stats demonstrates his enormous attacking prowess. In total he has played 306 official games, including La Liga, Copa del Rey, Champions League, Europa League, Premier League, FA Cup, Capital One Cup and Supercopa fixtures, scoring 161 times. Valencia CF are delighted to have signed a world-class striker to add to the all-Spanish frontline of Rodrigo and Paco Alcácer –an attacking trio full of alternatives, versatility and potential.

Valencia CF wish to express their happiness with the signing and repeat the invitation to all Valencianistas to welcome Álvaro Negredo to Mestalla on Tuesday at 8pm.

At least Valencia are a really class club.

Hope the Beast fires them to glory.

Impossible not to feel saddened by this because Alvaro is such a nice dude.

Real Madrid could have gone for falcao or negredo but instead got Hernandez. Surely the MK dons game should have made them pause and think that one through. Bizarre.

Heard that Perez is expanding his business to South America and that that fact might be the reason he signed 3 South American players in this window. Apparently he did the same with Ozil and Sahin while expanding his business in Turkey.

Optajoe. Negrado failed to score in his last 16 appearances.
His poor return seems to be over looked, especially when people say they'd rather lose Dzeko. The biggest beneficiary of Pellegrini's system initially, he stopped playing when Costa pushed him out of the Spain team and now he's going home after a season.

All the best to him for some of his great performances early on but it's good business to do. We played most of last season with 3 strikers and with hopefully Iheanacho to come in it still leaves us the chance to develop potentially the most talented prospect at the club, Jovetic.

We keep Sinclair and Guidetti and off load Negredo?

That's 18 outfield players we have that would get a start and will have to carry us through to January not including Nasty and Boyata.

Lampard will have to be replaced in January.

I hope we get a decent run with injuries ffs because we must be the smallest squad going around that is in the chumps league for sure and certain and has designs to challenge for the title as well.

Jose must be grinning from ear to ear at present.

Wonder if the scribes will drill MP on why there was no replacement for Negredo when he stated last Friday he was a required player and he wanted four strikers like last year.

Feels like a big loss right now.
Just pray our three remaining strikers have an injury free run.
This has most definitely not been the case in the last 12 months but you live in hope.
I am sure our bosses know what they are doing.
Not sure I feel we have got stronger other than financially in this window.

Had Alvaro settled & kept his form I'm almost certain we would have sold Dzeko instead. I was certainly hoping so back in January, and tbh I'd still prefer an in form Beast over Dzeko any day of the week.

Regardless, he's gone & I wish him all the best.

BEEEAAASSSTT!!!!

I often wish he'd play 1 up front too but because he believes it is the right formation and not because he has had his hand forced.

It's hardly forced though having 3 forwards of our quality.

When you look at our options behind, we have Fernando, Fernandinho, Yaya, Silva, Navas, Milner, Nasri and Lampard.

Not too shabby, and we're in credit for the whole window.

Yeah and none of those 3 forwards have any injury problems do they? What is the relevance of what we have available in midfield when we are discussing whether Pellegrini is potentially going to have his hand forced in terms of formation and playing 442?

OK then, name me a top side and their 4 top drawer striker options?
