Van won't start - Any ideas?

Cheers. Just waiting for the fuel filter to defrost now. Just had to cycle to the petrol station to get some more diesel to refill the filter (checked on YouTube, seems like you just pour the diesel back into the top to fill it).

I just hope this works. The battery charger indicated the battery was fully charged so I don't think it could be that.

Having a right b@stard of a time!

Can't remember of the top of my head whether there's a primer pump or not! Can you see a pump near the filter? It will be made of rubber and shaped like a rugby ball? If so when you reconnect the fuel filter and the 2 fuel lines just pump this half a dozen times, if not put some diesel in the fuel filter housing (where the actual filter goes). It should run on the diesel in the filter and this should be enough to pull the diesel through. There will be a none return valve on the filter to stop the fuel draining back to the tank and air in the system won't be a problem.

Aye, put the filter back in and still nowt!

It's still just that little millisecond off firing. Seems to be even closer now! I've given up for the night with it being 10pm like. Think the neighbours are getting tired of hearing me ticking over the engine all day.

I think it is probably some sort of fuel issue now that you've brought it up (I'd probably still be looking at the battery if it wasn't for that pointer).

Might have to just get up early and give it another blast with the paint stripper gun (electric one, at a distance, I'm not daft, it's better than a hairdryer though) around the various bits and pieces.

I've got an 06 Vauxhall Vivaro van.

Last drove it on Tuesday evening before heading off to Juve and tried starting it this morning, but it just won't start.

Tried warming up the coil jobbies that heat the fuel, that didn't work.

I've been charging the battery all day, still doesn't fix it.

There's about a quarter of a tank of diesel in it.

Any ideas what it could be? Might I need a new battery? Tried ringing the AA, but I don't have Homestart and they're going to charge me £90 to come out.

It's turning over and is that millisecond away from starting, but it doesn't does. It's chugging over but just lacks that little oomph to get going.

Can anyone help?

Might be the starter motor. Sit in the van rock back and forward really hard and keep turning the ignition. This will get it started, then drive to garage and get new starter motor- bout £60.

^^^^ scall get a can of this and spray a small amount up the air intake,
be surprised if it dont start with that,
also, when you're turning it over are you getting smoke out the back end,
if so,fuel should be getting through ok.
