Var debate 2019/20

am so looking forward to the liverpool home game and VAR will be the main talking point not the football

VAR is going to play a major part in the run in for both top 4 and bottom 3 teams and cups and champions league and managers and clubs stand to lose millions and jobs on the back of VAR, do they really know the damage they are doing or going to do and players and managers whole careers are on the line then you have angry fans its going to be fun

Ok. Suppose it’s impossible to get a true reflection as fans naturally see each decision different.
Not really we were all told at the start VAR will NOT interfere with the refs initial decision (red cards and penalties)...…..now we are looking at a totally different approach by VAR....where city are concerned that has already cost us a number of points

VAR to bail him out maybe the very reason he didnt give them. Helps avoid a hostile crowd decision especially against the home team (both of which were) Its called cause and effect. VAR will see refs and assistant refs not making decisions more often. Pointless to then say VAR cleared it up when VAR has created the none decision making environment in the first place.

You are totally incorrect, he actually gave a decision. A bloody idiotic/corrupt one that a clown could see wasnt right. He didn't give a "no" decision. he gave a foul against the keeper. So its far from pointless to say VAR cleared it up cos it did 100%. It corrected loads of decisions last week. If you can watch that and not see the value in VAR then you have an agenda. Its been going on years hence the need for VAR. Has it been implemented perfectly, no clearly!! Suspiciously so for me! It needs more transparency for sure, but its stopping the absolute howler/corruption that happened at Spurs.

you are saying refs without help will kill the game? It’s done alright so far I’d say. I also think if var was scrapped many fans would accept the human error from a ref more, instead of the mess we now have? Killing a game more is knowing people are meant to be watching a game to deliver the correct calls, it is more of a game killer them people getting it so wrong that a ref, in the speed of the moment making a split second decision. Also not being able to celebrate a goal is killing the game. You’ve dug a hole so deep your only option is to keep going. You can backtrack and say what the rest of the football world is thinking, we won’t think any less of you x

Just go back and watch the Chelsea v Spurs game without VAR or the Rangers v Celtic final. Absolutely farcical the refs decisions. Luckily VAR was there to correct them.

Re The Spurs game, perhaps they had to correct bent Taylors decision or they would have been the laughing stock and everyone, even the naysayers would have said it was bent. Sons foul was at least a yellow in anybody's eyes. Taylor gave a throw in. When the keeper took the Chelsea player out I thought I was watching a Bruce Lee film. Taylor gave spurs the foul. If they hadn't over ruled that VAR would have lost all credibility. It wasn't that they didn't want to side with him, they simply couldn't. VAR would have been scrapped there and then and they all would have been sacked. Even bent refs aren't stupid enough to agree with Bent Anthony.

I don't like VAR, but the fact it was needed to give Chelsea that penalty shows what the other alternative is. It's like having to pick between a turd sandwich and a bowl of puke.
