Var debate 2019/20

You just cannot miss a decision as blatant as that and call yourself a top level referee.

Every fucker in the stadium saw that, all of the players saw that, both managers saw that, everyone on TV first time of viewing saw that, fucking Stevie Wonder saw that.

It either shows blatant corruption that they didn’t want 2-0, and VAR took an age to find any shred of contact with the ball to try and stick with Taylor’s decision, or that top level referees are not able to spot the most obvious of tackles that endanger an opponents safety.

And what the fuck was Gazzniga doing leading with his feet and not his hands!?!?

I think referees are not making decisions, in the hope that VAR will step in and, if that is indeed that case, I would imagine that it is easier to not give it and have the VAR overturn it, than it is to give it and have it overturned.

I'm not denying that it appears to be counter-intuitive.

The alternative would be checking every decision made just in case something was wrong in the build-up - a foul, a ball out of play, all of that would be checked.

am with you on that and i get it, but he stopped the game for the free kick and a possible pen, so get the right decision because there was a clear and obvious mistake with the spurs player well offside

But he did give a decision. He gave the completely wrong decision, so he looked even more of a dick by having it overturned when it was so obvious. I’m not buying that reason in this case.

VAR stats update

Most in favour: Leicester, Tottenham (4)
Most net in favour: Tottenham (3)
Most against: Chelsea (4)
Most net against: Chelsea, West Ham (4)
Most involvement: West Ham (7)
Least involvement: Newcastle (0)

Newcastle now only team not to have negative overturn

These stats are woefully incomplete and therefore a waste of time. They fail to take into account the times that VAR fails to intervene when it should.

Ok. Suppose it’s impossible to get a true reflection as fans naturally see each decision different.

nah, not offended and i've never reported anyone, i'm just here debating VAR - I've stated many times my grievances with it aswell, but for me it has to be the way forward - as refs without technological help would equally kill the game for me.
Hopefully in time it will be more transparent and improve and you'll come back. Have a good crimbo Blue.

I've got a question for you. If there's a blatant handball for a penalty and the referee waves play on, when and how does the VAR intervene, if at all?
