Var debate 2019/20

Of course it did not even itself out. That the biggest bullshit cliche going.

Liverpool scored 11 offside goals last season and conceded 1.

Var isn’t perfect but it’s a lot better than the old system if accuracy and fewer errors is one’s target

well, your very entitled to your opinion, but its not mine and many others on here, why do you think Liverpool were awarded those 11 offside goals? help from the ref, instructions to refs,or simply bad but innocent decisions, i would say 'help' so if your going to get it from one ref you are going to get it from a panel of unknowns who are hidden away with no one to answer to, it would have simply been a better idea to maybe introduce a 2nd official 'one in each half' however also the offside law needs looking at and my suggestion would be foot only offside this making it easy for the refs

hundreds yesterday said they were giving up. on the 5 HOUR journey home it was the only topic. not fucking worth it.

99% of them will not give up. And if they do, the others will take their place. I bet there was about 50 different things fans were "giving up" because in last 50 years. And never gave up. Only money and health can do that. And when money or health finally caught them, there is a new generation in line that is much more friendly to technology as it is used to take a shit using some app.

It doesn't matter who is on the panel if offside is half a yard, that will never go wrong. Without var it goes wrong many times. The world moves on, there was nothing wrong with us walking down the Earth for zillion years but it's much better and easier to use bikes, cars, planes.

I want correct decisions for most of the time possible and var has proved it brings that - more correct decisions than it was when only human were involved. It's not 100% perfect solution, but it's better one and closer to perfect. Maybe or probably, down the line of time, we will have some that will be the perfect one. I'm sorry, I just don't care about people citing tradition or whatever when technology is involved. Technology made my life much better than life of those that were around 500 years ago, technology made football better before var and will make it better after the var. It's unstoppable thing. There will be some moaning at the beginning like this thread mostly is, but in some time, nobody will give a fuck about it and nobody will think what football was without var.
if you want it 100% proof then the human side has be taken away, there is far to much corruption as it stands today in the game without opening other possible routes for further corruption, there is nothing tech about 3 guys sat round a TV set playing frames, how do you know that a couple of these blokes havnt been in William hill before they go off to work. take the human decision away and you will have 100% decisions every time,if the tech is not their then VAR should not be

Without VAR we wouldn't have got the penalty, Dean wouldn't have given it, he very nearly didn't even though it looked a clear trip, but he then realised after a significant delay that VAR would review it, and to prevent him looking a fool (cheat) gave it, knowing that if it was wrong VAR would reverse it, and he could book Mahrez for a dive.

Said the same to the wife during the game, he wasn't giving it and then thought hmm I will look the **** if it is given on review, may as well give it and see what's what.

He is a horrible ref, sneering face and aggressive stance and who can forget that penalty point for us last season lol

The guy on BT said that the version they have in the room, is much more hi tech, 'crosshair' accuracy, so much better than the picture we see.

Well the picture we see, is fucking dreadful, almost comical, so that wouldn't be difficult, but so far as 'accuracy' goes, I'm calling bullshit.

I don't think either the disallowed or allowed goals were judged on 'accuracy' at all, I think they are lying. Both were best guess & both could have been allowed or disallowed. They just put the lines on a slightly different point, on the 2nd. Maybe on purpose, because they had guessed the other way & chalked off the first.

I think it's bollocks, what we are being told & they could show the same picture on tv, that the officials see, but they won't because it will show up how shit it is.
If they have this technology, they need to show us it in action, that would be simple enough, invite the media in, they've done it for managers and captains last week, who were apparently very happy with it, and show it to the public.

Maybe the reason the PL didn't use it last year was that they were developing this technology, and they trialled it live in a number of games, where it wasn't actually applied just trialled.

Whatever, the whole point of football is to score goals, so knocking off good ones seems against that point, and to prevent lots of goals being knocked off through VAR, there needs to be a change to the offside law to give benefit to the attacking team.

First off, just fuck off the stupid "any part of the body you can play the ball with" bit, it instantly makes it impossible to judge as where your shoulder ends and "illegal" part of your arm begins is obviously a nonsense. Just make it where your feet are, dead simple, dead obvious. Then you have to give a margin or error because you cannot know exactly when the ball left a players foot. It's mental to be measuring millimetres on one end of the decision, while just arbitrarily picking a moment to freeze it on the other end.

The spirit of the rule is to stop goal hanging, not to bail out defenders who might have just got lucky and accidentally ended up a millimetre ahead of a striker
Bloody hell!!!! Absolutely spot on. I think that’s what I was trying to say for the last 6 months! Thank you for putting it into real words ;)
