Var debate 2019/20

Even better show it on the big screens so the ref can decide and the crowd can see it as well,oh wait the rags and dippers don't have screens,i'm still waiting to be told why
Make them instal them if it means loosing seats so be it

I stil don't know why var is being used when they don't have screens in,haven't seen anyone in football media ask why they don't have to have them, can you imagine if it was us not having one, football would be posponed till we put one in

The monitors are used in the cl perfectly fine and quick,we were told by swasbrick the var checks were going to be done in real time which is a lie,if they can't decide replaying it for 3-4 mins then the ref should check it himself

that’s fair enough.

I just suspect it would no go down well with majority of fan base

Don't need screens for VAR just cameras, nothing is shown on screen other than "VAR CHECK IN PROGRESS -POSSIBLE PENALTY" we don't get replays in the stadium, not even screen shots.
I get that but screens are part of the system and var might evolve to showing how the decision has been made, probably not but you never know, still there is no excuse for not having them when everyone else has to

Offsides should be taken out of the VAR remit , the officials at Stockley park can manipulate when the ball leaves the foot , frame by frame , millisecond by millisecond , they are bascically deciding who wins games , along with titles and relegation , and its a disgrace that the VAR official is not requested to justify his decisions. The favouritism some teams have enjoyed this season is conclusive proof that the game is bent , as mentioned many times before a Dipperpool title win is great for the Premier league brand and the PGMOL are only too happy to provide it , with no fear of repercussion.
You will now be labeled by what I call them the "establishment boys/girls" of this forum;

- conspiracy theorist
- crazy
- an idiot
- not showing enough respect for the dippers

It's all a "joke" to them, I don't even know what the fuck that suppose to mean. The referee are going through a bad patch and that they’ll be right soon. IFAB are a bunch knobs, they should know better.....

Apart from the way that the rags and dippers already receive different treatment from other teams.

It isn't the PL's fault that despite their assistance ,penalties especially, the rags are still fucking crap.

If it does then I expect they'll be told to, but currently I don't think there is any rule that says you have to have a big screen at a stadium, just that the dinosaurs don't have them, it wouldn't surprise me if its one of the reasons fans in the stadium don't see the replay, because not all grounds are capable of doing it.

I am just waiting for the tele to start showing adverts whilst VAR make their decision. Soon they will not be able to announce it until the advert (Bet365, Foxy Bingo, Sky Bet) has finished.

You think I'm joking ?
No.i agree and said this two years ago.Just as they do over in the states, its all going one way...who cares about the fan in the stadium? Make them wait before celebrating..and advertise more to the viewers at home, filling that var gap with more money spinning commercials.whats not to like.?

Then when the match going fan gets fed up at being told when to celebrate,he or she gives up going to matches and relies on sky or bt at home.Bingo.whats not to like? Win win for the rampant commercialisation under pinning the once beautiful game. The clubs of course all signed up for this, they dont care, they signed their souls away when entering into the mega tv deal contract.

On another note, the juxtaposition of in- game betting ads and the secrecy/unaccountability of var decision making itself is uncomfortable to say the least.

Extra time thing I’ve mentioned aswell, I’ve always known games to add on little for the first half despite loads of stoppages and end of the game they seem to always add more on. I have no idea why.
Here's my theory on extra time.
  • First Half - Can not delay the adverts so not too much added.
  • Second Half- Try and keep the TV audience for as long as possible.
I reckon that makes perfect sense. To hell with the match going fan they do not enter into any debate on the future of football.

Just wait until they introduce compulsary time-outs on 22.5 minutes and 67.5 minutes, excusing it as the players needing to rehydrate. But it will be actually to cram in another 3 to 5 minutes of adverts.

Liverpool have recently built a new stand, surely screens could have been incorporated at each end..

The build was going on whilst VAR was being brought in..

Wonder why the screens weren't installed..!

The prob with that is offsides are the area where most mistakes are made, so they should stay in VAR
To make it work, you can either change the offside law, i.e. go back to clear 'daylight' or use foot position only or you can alter the VAR interpretation e.g. 'Refs call' when it is very close. Both routes would improve matters.
The ref on the field should stay in charge.

Rugby league games in Australia HAVE to have reviews of incidents so that they can show a Burger King advert (or other fast food outlet) on the big screen while he review takes place.

Yep .

I wonder how the Premier league officials will react to the dip in the renewal of season tickets come May. Not only is VAR ruining the spontaneity of the game but the match attending fan is second class in terms of the knowledge of the incident.
Once they've stopped coming they won't be back.

seems rather odd that the use of VAR in todays cup games will depend where you are drawn. If its a tie at a PL ground where they have VAR its in operation - if not then its not - surely for consistency if it can't be used across the board it should be switched off?

Well if you are just going to post sensibly about the two tier running of games in the FA Cup then you don’t deserve any input towards the operation of VAR!
