Var debate 2019/20

A rat? Huh? Not everyone is going to have the same opinion as you on subjective matters. It's not like I'm claiming we shouldn't have been awarded penalties, I'm merely stating I don't subscribe to the corruption theory yet.

It's the way you go about it. The last post case in point. You justify your point that we should have had 2 penalties vs 3 because it was in the same passage of play. Completely ignoring the fact they both should have been penalties.

You are not defending your own team and that has raised another question mark for me about you so I'm going to leave it here.

Thanks for the debate.

I hate being one of those tinfoil hat "the officials are always out to get us" sort of fans but it gets to a point where these decisions are happening so consistently and most of the time in instances where it could greatly change the outcome of the game that you're finding it more difficult to come to any conclusion but that. I know it's different officials who run VAR for the PL and in the CL but the handball tonight and the Laporte's handball against Spurs are so similar. One gets given and the other doesn't. Guaranteed if we had scored from that opportunity it would of been disallowed. Is the defending team always going to be given the advantage in these instances or is it just because it involves City? It's getting to the point where I doubt it matters how good we are, we'll never win the CL under Pep due to vital decisions going against us. I hate saying that because it makes me sound borderline paranoid, but it really is getting to that stage.

Big fan of VAR think the game needs it but there has to be a couple of rule changes and those that are using it need a modicum of integrity. There has been little sign of the latter far too often since its introduction to the Premier League or the Champions league. Nothing wrong with VAR but its custodians clearly have questions to answer.

It's really splitting hairs as to whether we should have had 2 or 3 penalties, I just meant that we should have had 2 penalty kicks because that Aguero foul should never have happened.

Also, I don't need to 'defend my team' on this forum, we're all City fans so who am I defending my team to? The fact that we won is probably why I'm not speaking from a place of emotion or getting riled up about the calls as I was at the time.

Yes, that is true. But so many motives on here on why were being shafted, and by who, its difficult to use a blanket response for all scenarios.

Fairer enough

Presumably tho, from what you’ve seen. There are enough dodgy decisions out there now to show that more likely than not the game is bent?
