Var debate 2019/20

Not sure I agree about VAR being corrupt. It's definitely inept and confusing. I agree there were at least 2 pens, but we've seen in the Premier League that if the ref doesn't give a pen, then the bar for a VAR overrule is ridiculously high.

We have to be working on the assumption that if you can say "I've seen similar and them not given", if the ref on pitch doesn't give it then the one in the TV room won't either. It's a crazily high bar for penalties.

I’ll tell you something mate. It’s not the likes of you and I making lots!!!!

Indeed. Trust me I am as cynical about the world we live in as much as anybody. Corruption is rife and no doubt its influenced the higher echelons of football, obvious example is awarding of World Cups etc, but its whether it extends to match fixing, match fixing against us etc rather than backhanders for the Fifa/Uefa family for votes

Fairer enough

Presumably tho, from what you’ve seen. There are enough dodgy decisions out there now to show that more likely than not the game is bent?

No not for me. Because there does not seem patterns to decisions.

Also I work in an industry where we have legislation written in black and white and then have to decide on the correct interpretation. Three of us in the office with 65 years experience disagree all the time and yet I am not making those decisions in a split second, seeing incidents in a flash, 1000s of decisions over a 90 minute period, while pressured by footballers, managers and 50k fans etc.

Now I appreciate that does not apply to Var but thats how its being used which is the issue.

But as the great Mario said “why always me”

The first leg against the Dippers a few years back was horrendous & followed up by the 2nd leg. Maybe it’s a conscious bias, but there is a bias.

But if you supported Pool you would view incidents completely different. The bias, in my opinion, is with fans as we see things through the prism of our club.

Just compare handballs in the champs league since VAR was introduced.

How the fck can Dippers complain?

Patterns is an interesting point. Man City being on the poor end of decisions in the UCL seems to be one?
