Var debate 2019/20

But really VAR wants binning. Measuring offside and tolerances and margins of error and frame rates etc. What a load of bollocks. Football and off side is not supposed to be so precise.

Why not ?

I don’t want the opposition scoring when their player is offside, whether it’s a fraction or miles off, give me the correct verdict rather than a lino guessing.

I agree. I've said numerous times I have no issues with the system just the people scrutinising it.

One week they say VAR won't overrule the referees on field decision. The next Mike Dean quite rightly tells Marriner to send Bertrand off.

I'll be watching for any likeminded decisions this weekend.

Not a fan of the sport, but watching the rugby now, their VAR and overall refereeing is absolutely brilliant. Clear, everyone can follow it and hear every single decision analysed and the ref tells the captains and they listen and get on with it. And even after doing all of that it’s probably quicker than our system which just seems to be 3 minutes of a guy with his finger in his ear.

Just copy this style.

But they can't do that (especially with live TV in the mix) as it might pick up some bad language from the players or fans in the vicinity and that is just unacceptable.

I’d class that as one that has gone our way.

Agree. Sterling is 100% interfering with the play.

If they’ve allowed it because they don’t think he is interfering, I think it is wrong but ok. If they haven’t disallowed it because they don’t think Silva has touched it, then they’ve made a royal fuck up......again.

My first thought when seeing it again was that Sterling was offside.....still haven’t changed my mind......I just think officials are inept. Took me 2 seconds to make my decision how does it take them 2 minutes to make what I believe was the wrong decision.

We can’t be sure though still and VAR isn’t putting it right, as we’ve seen again today.

It takes away the emotion and both fans were fed up today.
