First half stoppage time is not added to the second half Generally there’s subs in second half Refs allow stoppage time according to feeling what’s right Its a joke

The usual slowing down until there's a nudge from the man behind. It happens frequently, and it's very soft.
I loathe hearing the commentators/pundits talk about buying penalties and using experience - it means they're playing to rules/refs and not spirit. But then again, it was Neville, so what does he know?
 
Couldn’t help but celebrate when Foden scores right in front of the SS, once again atmosphere was sucked out of the rest of the first half after VAR review - in this case it was the right call but fuck me it’s killing the game

I’d love a protest in the form of all our players just not celebrating goals, just score and calmly mime a square with their fingers

Or run to the pitch side monitor and sit down in front of it until the decision is made.
 
OK it's getting boring now all this VAR talk, so I've solved it, you're welcome, there's no charge

Off-sides are called by the linesman, VAR checks are made on any goals or penalty claims etc, and if clear and obvious are called to the referees attention within 15 seconds, otherwise not clear and obvious and the decision stays with the linesman/referee

Goals are celebrated in the normal way, but all are looked at for clear and obvious errors. If such an error is found before the game kicks off again, goal ruled out, otherwise it took too long and is therefore not clear and obvious.

Handballs in the penalty area called by the referee and are checked by VAR. The check is for a clear and obvious handball that has influenced the outcome, ie if the hand blocks a goal bound shot, deflects the ball to or away from a striker creating a scoring opportunity or preventing one, or has another significant influence, this check again should take no more than 15 seconds, if it’s longer, and needs multiple viewpoints, then referees call stands.

Red card incidents, if the on field officials miss one, they are referred to the pitch side monitor to review, their call ultimately, same as upgrading or downgrading a yellow to red or red to yellow. This may take a little longer, but has a long term influence on the game so must be right.

Incorrect identification of a player, called by VAR to the referee, again should take just a few seconds

Encroachment, VAR monitors keeper and player, only relevant if encroaching player touches the ball (ie saves the penalty or clears the ball after a save or woodwork hit. Too mnay things happening too quickly to rely on people to watch this

fortunately it does have its plus sides - Noble tonight did a good challenge and the ref sent him off , that’s totally unjustifiable and luckily VAR was able to tell the ref he got it wrong. Likewise players ‘clearly’ diving in the pen area don’t get away with it any longer and also ‘clear’ offsides are now prevented.

It has to be improved.

You seem a pretty reasonable chap and other fans are always welcome if they add to the debate, however you are wrong with your Noble red card.

The person who did the tackle was Aaron Creswell and whilst he did actually get the ball the follow through was shocking the on-field referee in my opinion made the right decision. Now compare that tackle with Calvert-Lewin's on Fernandinho where the dirty twat had no intention whatsoever of going for the ball and went right through him from behind, a yellow card was issued but there was no VAR review,

For VAR to work there needs to be a full time independent team at Stockley Park not different people for each game, especially when those people are the same incompetent buffoons who will be out on the field refereeing a few days later.

Also as other people have already said how do they justify only two minutes being added to the end of the first half after two excruciatingly long VAR reviews?
 
I am just waiting for the tele to start showing adverts whilst VAR make their decision. Soon they will not be able to announce it until the advert (Bet365, Foxy Bingo, Sky Bet) has finished.

Oops. I meant Cresswell. I think this is a subjective decision, he clearly won the ball, what could he do about the follow through ? How could he have prevented that ? Some will see that as a red, I think the majority would say that was a clean tackle.

extra time thing I’ve mentioned aswell, I’ve always known games to add on little for the first half despite loads of stoppages and end of the game they seem to always add more on. I have no idea why.

And he makes a good point - it’s not fun but it’s fairer.

I disagree with Jeff though , a ref running to a monitor on every contentious decision would be ridiculed, fans would boo every time he runs to monitor and it would cause probably longer delays then we have already - then as we saw with the cresswell tackle, it’s so subjective that whatever decision he gives after viewing he still gets labelled a ‘cheat’ corrupt ‘ etc.

I hate VAR, but if the ref is going to be running to a screen every so often, why not strap an iPad to him, he'd save thousands of metres.
