This offseason, there needs to be a grassroots campaign to remove VAR completely from the sport. We've seen enough, there's no more "oh it's only the first year they'll get it right next year". There's no more "oh lets tweak it a million times". We've seen bollocks over bollocks year after year, it's not about getting decisions correct, it's about letting the sport breathe and flow naturally. Let the refs do their jobs. VAR has proven itself to be immensely counter productive and disturbing to the flow and ethics of officiating. Without that natural flow, it is literally not football. That's right, I said it, what we're watching is not actually football. You can call it football but this is not the sport that we grew up watching.

It is absolutely mad that we're just allowing this system to continue to be used in the sport. It has to be binned otherwise the sport is doomed. I urge fans to come to an understanding that this is the last season we can put up with this nonsense. In the offseason fans need to demand that VAR is ended. Whether you realize it or not, fans have the power to get VAR out of football, but they have to take a stand. They have to boycott the sport and line up outside the stadium so the powers that be understand why the stadiums are empty. Hold up signs and refuse to pay for tickets or attend the ground until VAR is eliminated. And with all the clubs in the Premier League. VAR is driving the country mad and the sport is in a state of disorder and disarray. This is no longer funny, it never was but now we al know that VAR is a very serious problem. There needs to be a real awakening that we have lost the sport completely. After what happened in that City Chelsea match, if that isn't the last straw, what will be? I cannot watch this farce any more and it's a shame to the wonderful players from our glob who are forced to play under such conditions have their glory taken away by evil VAR. It's wrong and immoral.

End it. Sack it. Out. This offseason we need to start being serious about standing up for the sport and bringing football back. I dream of watching the Premier League before VAR like that year that Leicester won the league. That feel is gone because every match is marred by VAR. And everyone needs to understand that this is not supposed the way football was ever supposed to be. It was turned into this by maniacs who tried to fix a sport that was not broken. And now it is broken. We as fans need to get serious about ending VAR. This is going to drive people mad the longer it is in the sport. Bring football back to its glory. VAR cannot be allowed to continue.

But some fans like VAR - Dippers, Rags, Haringey and all those teams that turn up at The Etihad love it!

Before VAR there was just the integrity of the refs with a full knowledge and impartial application of the LotG. But look at Old Mother Riley's performances at The Swamp, followed by Howie Redshirt. How long was it between two City pens v The Rags - over thirty years!! Before VAR there was a clear preferred outcome as to who should be title winners. Didn't always happen 'cos it would take some balls to disallow legit goal after legit goal and we've seen that refs have the same number of balls as Himmler. Come VAR and they can legitimise their preferences and hide behind the smoke 'n mirrors 'n mealy-mouthed apologies which they employ in the VAR shed and after 'independent' scrutiny of VAR decisions or lack of a referral to VAR. It is very much a case of Plus VAR change. . . . . .!

Their is a compromise, which is becoming increasingly possible with technology.

VAR could be absolutely anonymised in a way that the VAR team don't know which teams they are watching, and if you remove direct comm's between the VAR ref and the on field ref it stops any influencing of decisions from a VAR perspective. This would cut out any conscious/unconscious bias from any decision making.

Watching VAR run its course is so very insulting to the sanctity of a match. Its designed to have a referee make a firm decision, weakness or indecision is the sign of bad officiating. But that is precisely what is encouraged with VAR, the exact wrong approach.

It was never needed. Controversy in football was part of the charm and lore of the sport. When controversy hits, it creates a legendary moment that you remember forever. But it never robbed you of your immersion of the match. And how many times has a club overcome a call that went against you and how satisfying is that. We've lost all that with system that robs of you have that organic satisfaction.

Would they see a team turned into cartoon characters so you wouldn't, for example, see Erling's swishing ponytail, and they would change whichever team they were watching into totally neutral shirts or even have them not wearing a shirt! Somehow I think PiGMOL, the PL and the FA would not countenance not having control of the goal-no goal, pen-no pen scenario!

They should not have that power. It is not their power to have.

As we've already seen, the footballing authorities in this country drag their heels over semi-automated offside, their is no way they want to give up some level of strategic plan control of the VAR process..

How can they not know what they are watching? If you are going to keep VAR the best thing they can do is broadcast the audio. There is absolutely no good reason not to
