I always wonder what would have happened to the Scouser CL quarter if there was VAR. If VAR worked properly, I say we win the tie. But the more likely scenario is:
- 1st leg Salah offside goal: VAR not working - goal given
- Jesus disallowed goal: crooked lines - goal still not given
- Sterling penalty: deemed a dive and accidental handball by Robertson - no penalty
- 2nd leg: Milner handball - too close to the shot - not given
- Sane disallowed goal: VAR obscured by Scouse defender fat arses - still not given
- Firminho 2nd yellow on KDB: ignored (like Tierney/Milner couple of seasons ago)
If all those decisions were corrected by VAR, 1-5 becomes 5-3 (since presumably Firminho's equalizer at Etihad doesnt happen as he is off the pitch). Plus all the momentum shifts we were denied by the cheats in black.
My blood still boils almost 6 years on from that tie. That was our champion Centurions team and if any team deserved to play in a CL final it was them.
