VAR Discussion Thread

Where have you seen that it wasn't down ?
Certainly the bbc are reporting it was.

I ask because again it highlights how they con us. Two different reasons, it was broken/it was too congested.
This adds fuel to the conspiracy fires, there is no official statement, fuck the fans we can con them every time.

From BBC and The Guardian

"SAOT technology uses in-stadium cameras to build a live picture of the position of players on the field, before generating a 3D image that can be used by video assistant referees to assess offside calls. It is understood the system, the same as used in the Premier League, was unable to locate the position of the ball in the buildup to the Semenyo goal because it was obscured by surrounding players. Without a 3D image, VAR operatives were forced to revert to manually applying offside lines to video footage"

This isn’t correct. The tolerance level was introduced at the start of the ‘21-‘22 season. The ‘advantage’ of the old system, which was used last night, is there is a visual indication when the tolerance level is being used. The graphic produces just one line, instead of the two we saw last night.

SAOT has incorporated the tolerance level. But there’s no clue when they show their ‘cartoon’ graphic whether it has or hasn’t come into play.
The cartoon graphic they used to show Dias 'jumping' when in reality his feet were firmly planted?

That cartoon graphic?

Arsenal's first goal tonight.
The arsenal player is stood on the line but nothing is said, by anyone.
They said nowt because it was a good goal just like ours last night. The only difference was the 5+ minutes it took to fuck us over.

Bent.
Amazing how similar both goals are. The glaring difference being the arse player being more obviously offside, yet a) their goal stands and b) it takes less than a minute. At least we are now getting some consistency. Consistently bent!

Imagine a camera not working because the players are too close together. When the point
Of it is to look at offside decisions where players are too close together for the ref to tell…

Both Haaland and arsenal player deemed to be offside but, in our case, they claim Haaland was interfering in play

Today's Guardian is discussing the Var farce especially in relation to the 5.30 minute delay for Semenyos second.....
"It is understood the system was unable to locate the ball in the buuld up to the Semenyo goal because it was obscured by surrounding players"

What the actual fuck, several million viewers knew exactly where the ball was, why couldn't a multi million pound system ?

It is clear a) City are treated differently* and b) we the fans are being lied to. If the system could not track that ball it is not fit for purpose.

*See Arsenal's first goal oast night.
