VAR Discussion Thread

If if the lines don't line up they will start adjusting boot sizes and hope nobody notices.
5cm rule my arse.

Just switched over to sky and they were talking about a foul on Foden and a handball, Richards saying they were both a penalties. Can anyone shed a light on these? no mention of them on ITV

CORRUPT OFFICIALS!

I wear glasses all the time except when in bed, so this isn't a 'blue tinted' comment. I even examined the picture with a magnifying glass.
The red boots appear to be on the red line, whereas the white boot is just touching the line. Haaland is standing next to the goalkeeper so isn't obscuring his view of the ball.
As stated above "CORRUPT OFFICIALS"

English ref team being unable to understand the long established passive offside rule - or being simply corrupt the whole lot,

not sure what would be worse.

The last line of defence is Pope so to speak, Thiaw is effectively the 'keeper as far as offside is concerned so the line of comparison is the blue line where Pope is.

However it's all irrelevant as it's clearly a goal and they're cheating cunts.

A change I would like to see made is VAR send the Ref to the monitor and he is joined by the 4th official and linesman on that side of the pitch and they discuss it before the ref makes his decision.

The worst thing about this sort of decisions is the "experts" coming out with it was correct "by the letter of the law". Firstly, like they know the laws of the game. Secondly, ehat does it even mean? They are fucking subjective decisions, how can they be correct by the letter of the law. They are all judgements and they are wrong too often.

I've just watched the replay again.

The Newcastle defender was holding the back of Haaland's shirt as the flick from Semenyo went into the net. The Newcastle defender had no intention of trying to get to the ball. His role was simply to jostle Haaland and stop him from being an attacking threat.

Even if Haaland's heel was offside, I still can't see how VAR and the ref arrived at that decision.

Also Semenyo was virtually rugby tackled by the Newcastle player, who was trying to stop him. Where's the foul for that!

It’s just gaslighting the fans, they use clear & obvious or subjective to do wtf they want or like the Henderson hand ball in the final they’ll tell us something completely different to what we can clearly see.

There’s a clip they used on Sky from behind the goal and you can use the shadow of the crossbar to see a Newcastle players boot was nearer the goal than Erlings.

The VAR team were guessing which frame to use and if you are having to guess it should stand with onfield decision.

VAR needs a COMPLETE and TOTAL Sacking. Promptly. VAR needs to be eradicated permanently from football like the plague. Meaning, not a trace of VAR can remain. Not even in a tiny pocket in Africa shall there be a VAR monitor. VAR monitors need to be exceedingly smashed Office Space style to send a clear and direct message to the pro-VAR goons who have been hijacking our sport.

We have been so very patient as fans with VAR. We've waited, and waited, and waited for them to sort it out. They haven't sorted anything out. They are only compounding the agony, increasing our stress with every false promise, with every endless tweak, with every delay and hair pulling out decision. This is not how decisions are made in football. We as fans who have been exceedingly patient with VAR, we have tried to cope as best we can, we have given it more than enough time to prove itself. It continues to fail spectacularly and drive fans up a wall on a regular basis. In fact VAR is very certainly contributing to a mental health crisis amongst football fans. It is not a City issue, it is a football issue. I personally will not rest until VAR is fully binned, and binned in spectacularly humiliating fashion to those who have pushed this down our throats for the better part of a decade.

The fans, generally, by and large, have had enough of VAR. Fans are no longer OK with VAR as they have been year after year being strung along told it needs another year to get it right. They might be able to push VAR through another World Cup, but this World Cup needs to be VAR's last hurrah and I would encourage everyone to ensure that we are on the road to the permanent end of VAR not the beginning, not a normalisation of this albatross. As in they decided to kill the lovely albatross, our beautiful game. I will not stand for it and either should any of us. We must return football back to normal, fully, and we all know what that means.

Cricket solves the problem with ‘umpire’s call’. Why Var can’t do the same, I don’t know.
