VAR impact and consequence log - game 27

Is there confusion with the rules? My understanding is that all goals are scrutinised irrespective of refs decision and you will do well to say there was no hand ball by Laporte, and clear and obvious only applies to something the ref has wrong or missed?
Also 54, in the ground and 2 Liners ;-) Its f**ked mate and you know it.

Good idea for a thread but maybe the OP should also record the Dippers VAR favourable decisions , because there is going to be a massive inbalance by the end of the season , the Premier league have been looking for a way to stop our dominance and VAR is a god send to them

I do have a job you know, and a life :p

Just the favourable ones for the Dippers though?! Perhaps you should start a thread in the general football forum and track them? I fear you will be disappointed at the lack of evidence to back your theory.

Yeah, we aren’t so far apart really. When VAR was mooted, I was of the view that reviews should take place on appeal and that appeals should be limited to, say, two per match. I think that’s similar to cricket. It rankles that every goal is subjected to forensic examination even when nobody (apparently) appealed against it.
If we had that system the Jesus goal would almost certainly have still been chalked off. As far as I can remember Spurs didn’t have cause to use up two reviews earlier in the game so would still have had at least one review available so would have used it then because, why not?

In cricket it’s called “using up your reviews”. If the last batsman is given out lbw and the team still has a review they always use it.

So every late goal would be reviewed if the team conceding had a review left. Which could be quite an anti climax

Fair points but you’d agree there would be fewer reviews overall? And that any vexatious team could leave their arse hanging out by using up their reviews too early?

Truth is I don’t know if it would work better but I’d like to have seen the system trialled.

I’m actually more unhappy with the current offside and handball interpretations than with VAR itself.

Had to laugh at Kane, going on about the penalty decision was hard to take....yeh right pal, we know all about that.
