VAR impact and consequence log - game 27

There's this constant feeling that it's the rules that are the problem rather than the absolute morons enforcing them. The problem yesterday wasn't which part of Sterling's body was claimed to be offside, it was that they're trying to rule on something you can't actually prove with multiple replays. If you can't see it then you can't give it.

There's nothing wrong with the offside rule and there was nothing wrong with the handball rule either until these idiots changed it to make it easier to use their new toy.

Indeed. And therefore the benefit of doubt should go to the attacking team.

Sorry but it’s corrupt, can’t see one valid reason why I should stump up over £800 next season. Games are being decided by faceless shit heads , no explanation being given , it’s corrupt to the core , after forty years as a season ticket holder they can stick it where the sun don’t shine .

Me too.

800 for the season ticket, 500 for the lad, plus the petrol driving up every other week, plus food and drink to watch a corrupt competition?

Sorry City, Will always love you, but fuck it. I’m out.

But this is one of the reasons why they’re doing it.

They are anti-City, anti-Sheikh Mansour, they want to affect our results and challenges for trophies, they want to disillusion our fanbase so we’ll stop coming, they do not want us there at the top.

Therefore what we do not do is desert the players and manager who have to fight this too. We stick with them no matter what.

We need to become militant as a fanbase against it, like we were against the damager Swales and in the face of the mocking we went through by the Rags for years.

Protests, banners, tennis ball missile demonstrations... What we don’t do is give up and desert the team. Shame on any Blue saying that!

Shame on you. I’ll make my own decisions on what I spend my money on thanks.

I am thoroughly pissed off with VAR but I will keep going to the Etihad as I love the football we play.

I truly hope that behind the scenes the powers that be at our Club are not going to take this lying down. They need to get together with other PL clubs who are also being shafted and have a concerted campaign to get VAR sorted.

First and foremost it needs operating by an completely independent group, not by PGMOL who have shown over the years that they are just incompetent. Secondly the offside law needs looking at disallowing a goal because you MIGHT be offside by a millimetre is just plain stupid.

If you really believe that then at every free kick there will be a penalty or another free kick awarded. Lovren was touched but not enough to make a 6ft2, 13.5 stone pro footballer to go tumbling over like he did. Big difference between touched and pushed which was the case with Sterling. It’s cheating.

That was exactly my thought when I watched MOTD. Lovren went down like he'd been shot and the correct decision IMHO would have been to award the goal and book Lovren for diving. More chance of me plaiting sawdust than something like that happening with the dippers. It's getting more bent by the week.
I don't actually think the ref missed it, judging from his position - I think he let it go until VAR told him he couldn't give the goal. That's completely the opposite of what VAR is supposed to do.
VAR is there to tell the ref he may have missed something and to take another look. We all know that's not happening. Feckin ridiculous.
