VAR impact and consequence log - game 27

Did any commentators remark on the absolute travesty of Altrincham Tony giving Spurs a foul before Var overruled him. What was he seeing that nobody else did. It was a penalty without a slow motion replay, myopic buffoon.
In isolation that's got to be one of the strangest refereeing decisions I've ever seen. I just don't understand what he thinks he's seen, the Spurs keeper comes flying out and launches himself at the Chelsea forward, he's in mid-flight when he they collide.

It can only be an attempt at a corrupt decision because theres just absolutely nothing that could possibly be considered a foul by the Chelsea forward, he's just running towards the ball which is already beyond the keeper. You'll still get the odd one who calls it incompetent but seeing something that didn't happen isn't incompetent, it's bent.

has to rank as one of the worst decisions ever made by a referee, for whatever reason, no doubt he'll be binned off to the lower leagues for a couple of weeks as a result........

I have thought he was wrong 'un for a long time. He was overturned with the Son's sending off as well.

Some of these decisions would have never been overturned without VAR check.

But with situations that are not 100% clear for example faults will always get blamed, as no matter hat decision will come from referee/var etc fans still will argue that was incorrect decision if it is against your team.

Just go onto any PL club fan forum and they will have a topic about how VAR fucks with them and only them.

Imo with the Spurs-Chelsea game the stupid Taylor wasnt even sure what to say at the incidents real time and that just shows how were these refs reffing games for years. You can see it on their face during VAr check is going on that they have no idea actually if they made good decision at firs tor not. It was time that even refs are being checked, reviewed finally as they make lots of mistakes. When players makes many mistakes they risk getting benched, getting sold etc. Do refs have standards?

Using VAR in a consistent, clever way, simply overturning bad decisions and checking every goal would be a help for the game but the way they operate it in England is a messed up version so far.

That Chelsea penalty at Spurs highlights exactly why fans want to see the introduction of the officials being mic'd up and VAR video replays shown on the big screen.

At least then we would understand the referees thought process, however neither PiGMOL or the Premier League would allow it because they wouldn't be able to create a cover story afterwards (e.g. no lines on Salah offside goal against us at Anfield). It would also stop the manipulation of decisions as I believe we've had a few decisions lasting 3 minutes plus while they search for something/anything to deny us a goal (e.g. Laporte last minute against Spurs at home). It didn't matter if it was an innocuous foul or an handball which could never be 100% proven due to the frame rates, they were searching for something/anything at that stage to deny that goal. Hopefully the introduction of the VAR reason on the big screen prevents that, however you know for a fucking fact the rule will miraculously change during one of our games and a decision be given on something/anything else they've made up, rules have been changed 4 times in a year (handball rule x2, offside by armpit hair and this searching for anything to disallow a goal rule).

Taylor has previous. Anybody remember the city v chelsea game when Luiz nailed kun going through and only gave sideshow Bob a yellow?
Wasn't Chelsea top of the league at that time?
Hmm a bit of a theme methinks.

Just a thought,
could the FA, Premier league and top flight English teams, be threatened with expulsion from European competition’s ?
Due to the fact, games played at the top end of English football are not being officiated in accordance to EUFA, and FIFA rules and guidelines!

Is this why Pep, and Ceferin are so confident that there will be a change for next season?

ho ho ho Merry Christmas.

I'm still really bitter and angry at Jesus disallowed goal v Spurs. That set the tone for what was to come and has subsequently transpired. Var is meant to right wrongs however in our case it used as an excuse to tether us. I'm very much intrigued how var will be used and manipulated in our match against Arsenal tomorrow as they are not a threat in terms of the title but could be considered as one of the 'old guard' favourites a la manyoo and the dippers. If I see us getting shafted tomorrow then I'm going to give serious consideration whether to bother with the rest of the season and become an fa and league Cup fan only as there is no var. I hope you're all ready for the shafting we'll get in the champs league as well when or if we look like we could actually win the thing.

This shit is serious and anyone who thinks it's just a case incompetency is deluding themselves. The worse and most frustrating thing is that we seem (as a club and as fans) absolutely powerless to stop it.
After following us for 45 years this will be my last season I will still look out for our results but football as we all knew is slowly dying

Yellow? He didn’t even give a foul mate!

If VAR is to be any use then I think they had two instances in last night's game where it could have been used:

Ederson sending off. For me Ederson charges out but then he's passive and the Wolves player runs into him. It's nowhere near as clear cut as the commentators made out. He made an error, or maybe he felt he had no alternative but to force the player wide but he doesn't go for the ball. I think the Wolves player was clever and buys the sending off. That's a difficult call to make. It is nowhere near as obvious as the commentators and ref in the studio made out.

And for me Traore fouls Mendy. They bottled that because of all that has gone before. No way were they overturning it but they really should judge every decision on its merits.

VAR is not helping referees or the game. Last nights game was another example of it.
