VAR (PL introduction 2019)

They'll be doing it then because at the 1/4 final stage all the teams involved will already have VAR set ups. All the grounds in the top 5 leagues have it this season.

After this season it'll be from the whole tournament. They can't introduce it from the beginning this season because it's too late notice.

This doesn't discredit UEFA or the CL at all.
It does in my opinion - it should either be implemented from the start (for all competitors) of the competition or not at all.

In the unlikely event that an unfancied Romanian side makes it through to the quarters - what happens then?

They won't, so it's a completely pointless hypothetical, but they'd just rush to install the necessary cameras in 1 ground which is possible.

It's not possible however to have 12-16 small teams put in the requisite equipment in 4 weeks notice.

Ribery doing one of the clearest dives you will see. Penalty given and no VAR. Robben scores following a save from the keeper. Then VAR is used as Robben went into the box before the penalty was taken. Lewondowski then scores from the re taken penalty.
To much fiddling can still go on for my liking even with var, when it’s brought in to the premier league it’ll only help those it needs to..
